I even tried to duct-tape the piece but with the weight of the drum it could not withstand it! Ease of Use: I did not put it together so i cannot speak for self-construction, but it is the perfect size for my 3 yr old music enthusiast! His papa has a real drum set & along with my son Zane's electric & acoustic guitars, mic, & percussion set this child-sized set fits right in! Sound: Tone is great.. my father tuned the drumheads and they sound fantastic. Like real drums not any generic sound. Value: I think overall its a good first drum set and the most valuable thing is the joy my son gets when rockin' out to music with them.... every night is a concert!! Durability: Disappointed- One of the prongs that hold the snare drum on the stand bent the very first time my son used it and then broke fully on the 3rd day! Very disappointed that a set designed for children wasn't made out of stronger material knowing that kids can be a bit clumsy or knock things around a little too hard. The drums are of good enough quality they could be integrated into a full size kit down the road. Ease of Use: The directions were useless. You have to put the bass drum lugs & heads on. Took me about 20 min. to put it together. Sound: Real wood shells & tunable heads. Dont expect a 22" boom out of a 12" kick. Value: Compared to the plastic sets I seen this set is awesome, it's a real "tiny" kit! Durability: Most of the hardware looks like it will hold up except for the snare stand.
