Vic Firth's affordable Nova 5B drum sticks are crafted of the same First Quality wood used for Vic Firth brand sticks. Each pair is weight-sorted and tone-paired using Vic Firth technology. On the nylon sticks, Vic Firth's new TipLock process guarantees that the tips won't chip or fly off..

10 Steps to a Vic Firth Stick:
    1 - Kiln Drying
Dried to an exact moisture level in Vic Firth's own kilns.

    2 - Doweling Process
After reaching the proper moisture level the wood is processed individually into a round dowel.

    3 - Dowel Inspection
Dowels are inspected and graded into categories, based on color, grain, streaks, blemishes and defects.

    4 - Centerless Grinding
Stick shape takes form as dowels are grinded by a wheel that spins at a high speed.

    5 - Backknife Lathe
For timpani mallets and bass drum beaters not made on centerless grinders

    6 - Computer Shaping
Complex stick and mallet profiles are shaped on the CNC computerized lathe.

7 - Finishing and Logo Stamping
Sticks are placed into tumblers to evenly finish the sticks. Vic Firth's Logo is stamped on accepted sticks.

    8 - Weight Sorting
After checking once more for straightness sticks are loaded weighed on a computer scale and organized by weight.

    9 - Tone Pairing
A computer analyzes the exact peak frequency of the stick and places the stick into a bin with others that match.

10 - Color Matching and Packaging
Sticks are paired by hand then the label and bar code are added (12 Pairs are combined to make a Vic Firth Brick)

It's good quality. Our drummer isn't worried about blemishes on his sticks. And only the one stick was slightly warped.

How is the tone?
Sounds like a stick should.

Great value. Got the brick, and It's only had one bad stick in it. so still got 11 pairs of VFs for the price of 4. Can't beat that.
