The new AC15 Custom Classic from Vox needs no fancy introductions! Born from a classic design and with a heritage dating back to 1958, this new AC15 maintains and evolves Vox's pedigree in thoroughbred tone.

With years of manufacturing expertise in high quality guitar amplifier design, Vox have taken the best AC15 designs, both old and new and added a number of useful and interesting features. The result is to give you the most tonally flexible AC15 to date!

Decades ago the AC15 stamped its tonal trademark on the rock n roll revolution. Many top performers of the era were first in line to sample its unique warm tone. People started to notice this new evocative guitar sound and soon many other new artists were using the Vox AC15.

Today, the AC15 Custom Classic is set to become the new leader in its class. Built in Vox's vertically integrated manufacturing facility means total control of the design, the quality and the sound of your amplifier. Many processes not found in most guitar amplifier factories are employed in the factory and Vox design and manufacture their own transformers, speakers (except for the venerable VOX "Blue" & "Neodog" which are manufactured by Celestion), cabinets and electronics. All components have been designed, manufactured or selected so that the performance and sound of the AC15 Custom Classic is second to none.

Equipped with a number of modern features and conveniences the new AC15 Custom Classic offers more control and versatility with features like master volume, global reverb and tremolo. Also on the top panel are bass and trebles controls along with a single guitar input.

At look at the rear panel will reveal a pair of output jacks for use with external speaker cabinets if desired. When connecting speakers, an impedance selector switch offers 8 or 16 ohm output options. A dedicated jack for use with the supplied VF002 VOX footswitch is also provided. With this so you can turn the Reverb and Tremolo on and off.

There are two models in the line:
  • AC15CC1 that uses the VOX / Wharfedale custom GSH12-30 speaker
  • AC15CC1X that uses the VOX / Celestion AlNiCo Blue loudspeaker

Subject:Pretty darn good amp!
Quality: It seems very solid so far. I've done a bit of hauling it around town and it's holding up just fine. No crackles or funny noises yet!
Reliability: I've only had it for a short while, but it's doing great so far.
Overall: This is my first tube amp, so I'm loving the tone, though, I have played through some amps I liked better - Orange, BadCat, Mesa.
Playability and Feel: N/A
Tone: It has that chimey VOX sound with a deep and dark undertone.

Subject:Love The Tone
Quality: It is a solidly built amp.I wish the input jack did'nt have a plastic nut.It has been very dependable,I lug it around once or twice a week and had no problems.Actually it only weighs 47 pounds I think.
Reliability: I've had it a couple years now,and it's holding up really well.I might get a cover for it.
Overall: I dig this amp.Great for small gigs or studio. The warfedale speaker sounds good but I put a celestion vintage 30 in it and I really like it now.I put other speaker in speaker cabinet for an extention speaker but don't use it that much.
Playability and Feel: N/A
Tone: Great clean sounds.I use a strat and Les Paul.I turn up the master volume a little more with strat. It loves all my effect pedals.
Finish: Amp has a great look.

Subject:This is the best amp ever made for under six bills!
Quality: OK, you booteek snobs out there, this one is made in China. Get over it. The workmanship is solid
Reliability: The amp arrived DOA. I called Vox and they said the problem was tubes. I went to my local guy and got replacements and played the gig that night. Not a single problem in 2 years. BTW, Vox sent replacements.
Overall: Anybody who's played tube amps knows that 15 watts is plenty loud for most situations, unless the drummer is a very hard hitter. I put everything up about half way, and use an overdrive to hit the front end a bit. That gives you the gloriously rich but focused saturation (a la Brian May) and then if you back off your guitar volume it cleans up nicely with all the chime that is Vox.
Playability and Feel: Although it has a SS rectifier, it really does squish a little on louder sounds. Very nice.
Tone: Ignore the message board grafitti and go with the stock Wharfedale. However, be prepared to play the amp hard for a couple of months to break in the speaker. There was a slight harshness but then one day it was gone. If you don't like it after 2 months get the Celestion. It's cheaper to buy it separate, and then you'll have the Wharfedale for a spare.
Finish: Quality throughout with one exception. The reverb is useless.
Action: Nice.
