VOX AD30VT Modeling Combo Amplifier

VOX has loaded their new Valvetronix AD15VT and AD30VT amps with an amazing set of features that is unsurpassed in this price range. And once you hear them, their pure, raw tone, versatility, and sheer volume make them absolutely impossible to ignore. The new AD15VT and AD30VT incorporate VOX's Valve Reactor circuitry, for true tube power amp sound and feel. In addition to 11 accurately replicated, highly sought-after amplifiers, these amps offer 11 preset and 2 programmable channels (programs) for saving combinations of amp and effect settings, 11 high-quality 24-bit effects, noise reduction, and a Tap button. Both amps feature simple control layouts, line/headphone jacks, and custom-designed VOX speakers. The AD30VT even has selectable output power so that the Valve Reactor can be fully saturated at any sound level. These are truly great amps.

The pure tube sound of Valvetronix is more affordable than ever! The new AD15VT and AD30VT pack the amazingly versatile tube sound of Valvetronix into two new amps that introduce a modern twist to the traditional VOX design.

VOX Valve Reactor for true tube power amp sound and feel
The AD15VT and AD30VT feature the patented VOX Valve Reactor found on all Valvetronix products. The Valve Reactor circuit uses a 12AX7 triode vacuum tube together with an actual low-wattage tube power amp circuit, a virtual output transformer and a dummy speaker circuit that simulates the impedance changes of a real speaker. It also reconfigures itself so that its characteristics are the same as the amps it’s modeling (class A, class AB, negative feedback circuit, etc.) This means that all of the nuances of the original amp model including sound, feel, distortion and presence are reproduced accurately.

Eleven realistic amp models using sophisticated modeling technology
A total of eleven coveted amp types are provided. Starting with the classic AC30 and ranging from vintage to modern, hi-gain to clean, a variety of amp models are built-in, giving you an incredible range of sound-creating potential. Selecting the amp model and adjusting the tone controls is as intuitive as it gets – just turn the knobs!

Eleven high-quality effects cover the basics
Nine standard effects indispensable for any guitarist are built-in. These include auto wah, compressor, phaser, chorus, flanger, tremolo, rotary, delay and reverb. With the addition of combination-type effects, you have a total of eleven effects to choose from. Each effect lets you adjust several parameters. There’s also a Tap button that makes it easy to set the delay time or modulation speed.

Save your user programs in CH1 or CH2
Channel Select mode lets you save two of your own programs, including the combination of amp and effect settings. You can access either channel at a touch, for immediate switching while you play.

Easily select the classic sound for each amp type
The new Preset mode gives you a tonal starting point for each amp model. You can enter Preset mode at the touch of a button, and then simply choose an amp model to automatically get the preset sound for that amp. Select a Preset, modify it and save it into CH1 or CH2.

Manual mode lets you hear your exact sound settings
In Manual mode, the sound you’re hearing will be exactly what the knob settings indicate – just as on a conventional amp. It’s visually intuitive, so it’s quick and easy to create just the sound you’re looking for.

Convenient line/headphone jack for home recording or late-night practicing
You can connect the line/headphone jack to your mixer, multi-track recorder or headphones. Since the character of the cabinet is also added to this signal, the sound will have a sense of “air” and depth even when you’re listening through headphones or recording direct.

Adjust the output wattage of the power amp
The AD30VT lets you adjust the output wattage from 1~30W, so you can lower the volume without losing the sense of drive that’s unique to tube amps. You can get the great distinctive tube sound at a volume that’s appropriate for any location.

Footswitchable control
If the optional VFS2 dual foot switch is connected, you can use it to switch between user programs (CH1, CH2) or to bypass the effect. Alternatively, you can choose to have the footswitch activate Manual mode instead of Effect Bypass, which gives you hands-free switching between three different sounds (the two user programs and the Manual settings) for convenience during a live performance.

The Vox AD30VT is made like a tank. Everything worked right out of the box and was in immaculate shape. The chrome grill gives it a bit of class but amps arent about cosmetics they're about great sound and this sounds great.

FEATURES:
It's factory presets do a decent job of emulating some classic amps but if you take the time to tweak the preset settings this little amp shines. I can get almost any sound i can think of with this, Deicide (death metal) to Clapton-esque blues to crystal clear cleans. I like how every amp mod setting saves the effect it was last played with and its effect setting. The effects sound good for being digital. The 1 12AX7 tube in the pre amp ads some richness to the sound and makes it sound identical to an all tube.

EASE OF USE:
Within minutes of opening the box i was tweaking the settings to get the tones that i like. its so easy to save your settings...its almost too easy. Recording with this is a

Overall:

QUALITY:
The quality is great. I've had it for almost a year now and nothings broke off or anything. Its a sturdy little amp. It doesn’t rattle like most amps do from the bass.

FEATURES:
The features are great on this amp. The effects and amp models are a huge plus and fun to mess around with. I just wish you could mix two effects together. The amp models give you a wide verity of tone. You can get a nice clean sound from it or you can get some crazy distortion perfect for metal.

EASE OF USE:
When i first got the amp i pretty much knew how to work it. Its nothing to complicated. After using it for awhile you learn more features that you never knew about or settings. The manual is really helpful to me. There wasn’t many questions i had about this amp, but the little questions i did have the manual answered them all.

VALUE:
This is definitely worth the price no doubt. There’s not many complaints i have on this am

Subject:Great amp for the money - I have the high gain version (VOX AD30VTXL)
Quality: The unit seems to be built well. I've only used it at home for recording, never played out with it.
Reliability: No problems thus far...again, studio use only.
Overall: It's very easy to get some great sounds out of this amp. I have the AD30VTXL high gain version, and it's definitely geared towards a metal sound. There are some decent dirty blues sounds, but this amp is made for metal. For being solid state, it does have some warmth to it. I've gotten some really good sounds out of it for recording with. The cleaner sounds are cool, but are a bit processed. Perhaps not a bad thing though if you're playing metal. The built-in effects are useful and sound good, but only if you are going to use them for an entire take. There's no decent realtime control, nor did I expect there to be. Making adjustments on the fly changes the sound dramatically, so I've only played with them for recording certain passages.

Overall:

QUALITY:
It seems to be built pretty solid, It looks nice and everything works fine. I rated the quality at 4 because it doesn't sound good with the volume past 1 to 2 with my Epiphone Les Paul Custom, Fender California Series, and Ibanez AR300.

FEATURES:
You can make a whole lot of different sounds and tones with this amp, there are a vast amount of features to fool around with.

EASE OF USE:
Simple after you play around with it for awhile and find all the different things you can do with it.

VALUE:
For a tube type practice amp with all the different features you get I think it is a pretty decent buy for the money!

SOUND:
At a very low volume this little amp has really good sound especially with my Ibanez AR300! I have had this amp for about 1 year.
