Playability and Feel
Stunning! And almost sounds like a guitar
Your general opinion of this product.
Pictures do NO justice to this guitar. When I opened the box it was just stunning! It was one of the rare guitars that have actually taken my breath away just looking at it. And comfortable is an understatement. It feels GREAT!
Would you consider this product to be made well? How dependable?
Not a flaw anywhere in the construction and I am extremely critical of today's craftsmanship. The binding and high gloss finish were as perfect as you can get.
Playability and Feel
How does it feel, Heavy, Fast, Chunky? How was the neck? Are the controls easy to get to while playing?
The special binding on the lower bout really makes a huge difference in comfort. I have a Martin HD 35 and while it sounds far and away better than this one, it is very uncomfortable to play, and I paid $3000 for it. This Washburn can be played for hours with no pain or fatigue. Neck is good. Strings have to go though. They are the weakest point on this guitar. I'll be switching to Martin medium gauge strings later tonight.
Bright and snappy? Dark and smooth? Were the pickups hot, mellow, thick, thin?
Has a bit of a buzz but I think it is because the strings are too light of a gauge. I am putting heavier strings on later. But it sounds really good.
How was the action out of the box?
Action is a tad bit high but that's a matter of opinion. I prefer it lower, but this seems to be a standard action compared with most every other out of the box guitar.
How did the stain or paint job look?
Finish is in a word: Superb. I am very pleased with this finish. Not like the last 3 Gibson's I got. Flaws galore. This was was as flawless as any I have ever seen.
How has it stood up over time?
Let you know next year. Too new to tell. But I had 2 other Washburns and they were fine over the long haul.
