Yamaha M06 61 Key Synthesizer Workstation

The Yamaha MO6 Synthesizer delivers the power, sound and music creation capabilities of the Yamah Motif ES to an all-new, affordable price.

From Acoustic to Analog - the MO has it all!
Perfect for young musicians, home and project studios, songwriters and live performer, the 61-key MO6 draws on the advanced technology of the professional-level Yamaha Motif ES with a full set of authentic sounds and comprehensive music-making features – including an emphasis on contemporary styles and voices – plus an exceptionally large internal wave memory capacity and the immediacy of hands-on control. Designed to be highly portable and compact, the MO Series also serves as an ideal keyboard for live performance applications.

Sounds include a full complement of realistic instrument Voices and Drum Kits plus a number of modern and vintage synthesizers, making the MO Series well-equipped for today’s hip-hop, dance and electronica music styles. For sound shaping and signal processing, the MO features sharp, responsive filters with comprehensive real-time knob control, and an extensive set of high-quality onboard effects (reverb, chorus, EQ, Master and three separate Insertion blocks). Song and Pattern Creation
Advanced music production tools include a built-in Song/Pattern sequencer featuring the same Phrase Factory capabilities found in the Motif ES. The powerful Arpeggio feature provides more than 1,700 sequenced phrases that can be controlled interactively via the keyboard. The Master mode function allows the MO to be used as a master keyboard controller (with independent Zones), and to be easily reconfigured between Voice/Performance play and Song/Pattern play in live applications. Category search will quickly call up desired sounds, while Performance mode will combine up to four different voices in layers or a keyboard split. Built-in Phrase-based sequencer gives you an exciting set of tools to create your own music – more quickly and easily than ever before.

  • Trigger the Arpeggios and generate new, creative ideas on-the-fly. Use them along with the Mega Voices to create exciting, unusual phrases.
  • Combine the pre-programmed Phrases into complete Patterns.
  • Use the Pattern chain functions and track looping to quickly craft your own songs.
  • Generate an unlimited amount of Pattern variations, using the semi-random Remix controls.
M06 Center Panel Project Studio - Controlling your DAW with your M0
The MO will seamlessly integrate into computer music systems and features full remote control of DAW software – including transport and mix controls, as well as track arming, muting and soloing. There is even full editing for soft synth plug-ins directly from the front panel and the Motif ES-sized LCD display. A new feature on the MO Series is the inclusion of global templates to easily configure the keyboard to work with computer software.

The MO6 and MO8 are the latest instruments in the Yamaha line to feature compatibility with Studio Connections, a joint initiative led by Yamaha and Steinberg to bring total integration between hardware and software into the music production environment.

With Studio Connections you can create and save MO settings to a song within a DAW application such as Cubase SX 3 or Nuendo 3, and instantly recall and restore those settings when you reopen the song. Audio Integration takes the hardware/software link a huge step further by allowing you to treat a Studio Connections-compatible synthesizer exactly as if it were plug-in software connected directly to the VST mixing engine. Additional computer-oriented features include two USB (TO HOST and TO DEVICE) connections and a built-in coaxial digital output, plus compatibility with Yamaha’s powerful Voice Editor and Multi Part Editor software.

Perfect for Performance and Song Writing
The new MO series brings the sonic palette and music production power of the award winning MOTIF ES to a new generation of players and producers. Equally at home on stage, in the studio or in a computer based home recording system, the MO series is not just a keyboard, but the heart of your music production system. Killer sounds, a complete Song and Pattern based sequencer, powerful on-board effects processing and total computer integration come together to make these the most affordable music production synthesizers in the Yamaha line up.

Ease of Use:
Features:
Sound:
Subject:high quality good deal
Quality: Yamaha quality is generally first class - Not dissapointed - will likely last many years if well cared for
Features: Sound quality, breadth of sounds, arpeggiator to play nice drum and other instrument backings, pre-created performance mode accompaniments
Ease of Use: Haven't learned all this can do and it has a lot of controls and features. But just finding voices and performance mode sounds is easy and straightforward
Sound: Sound quality on the whole Motif ES and XS series is outstanding and the primary reason for my purchase. This has the sounds of the ES but they are very good.
Action: It is touch sensitive but of course the M06 does not have weighted keys. Not bad.
Value: M06 is very good value - offers sounds/quality of the Motif ES series including arpeggiator. The prices is considerably lower than the current XS6 and not sure where one could buy and ES anymore anyway.

Features:
Sound:
Subject:Surprisingly powerful!
Quality: Good, solid, heavy - just the way we like it
Features: Arpeggios are great!I mean-excellent! Very useful, realistic, etc.It wont edulge you into that "motion soundscape" type neverending jam like the Korg M50 does, but you'll have a finished, polished, pro sounding piece ready to be played in the radio way before you even think about ending your first jam session with the Korg. Amazingly TIGHT!
Ease of Use: It is not that easy... but boy is it worth the sweat!
Sound: How is it? It's like the Motif Es (one of the most capable workstations ever made!)minus a few insert effects and sampler. (O.K. and half the polyphony) The drums will drive you insane with their realism (again, using the good old ARP-s)REGARDLESS of what type of noise you are into. Megavoices? C'mon,Roland and Korg don't even dream about this level! At least they have NOT come up with anything close to them as of today.
Action: Decent...
Value: Are you kidding me or what...?! If you serious about producing this is a killer value! I had purchased the Korg M50(introduced to the market as THE BEST DEAL EVER)and this baby together and after two weeks the Korg was declared to be a toy and was sent back for a full refund (cortesy of AMS)!

Ease of Use:
Features:
Sound:
Subject:Product good; manual a work in progress
Quality: The initial quality seems terrific and the sounds should suffice to build rhythm tracks and possibly beyond. I haven't owned the equipment long enough to review dependability, but Yamaha has never let me down.
Features: I got the 61-key model so the space required is minimum. Otherwise, the device seems adequate and normal for the price. I would like to see two additional features: 1. A back key, much like a web browser to go to the previous page. 2. A USB connection to a pc for audio transmission. I use my own converter, but at the expense of extra wires, power loss, phase shift, blah, blah, blah. One tight unit that converts USB internally would be cool.
Ease of Use: The unit requires additional equipment to play live, which is cool and expected. It hooks up to the rest of my workstation easily. It took a couple of hours to find and manipulate the 100's of drum tracks, but they are very useful. I wish that, for God's sake, that someone could write a manual that flows. I was dean's list electronics, worked in the field fr 12 + years and have multiple degrees and know how to figure out stuff and I'm here to tell you, I'm disappointed in the original manual. You can BUY additional instruction manuals from the Manufacturer's website which appears to be Yamaha's plan all along: ADD ON. I wouldn't be surprised if Yamaha found it more economical, in reference to returns, to provide a simplified ops manual.
Sound: Very good and useful!!
Action: I got a re-seal and the unit was in perfect condition. I had to format the KB because apparently, the previous owner had programmed over the factory demo songs. Otherwise, I'm satisfied.
Value: I'm real good with the MO6. We should be able to compose on this little unit for many years.
