| | | Subject: | The only field recorder for me | | Quality:
| Seems well made. It's incredibly lightweight. Due to that if it fell I doubt any damage would be done. I could probably greak it in my hand if I wanted to, but I don't want to. | | Features:
| Size was my #1 concern in purchasing a field recorder, and there are none presently available smaller than this. Add the other features and the $300 price tag and I'm quite sure this can't be beat. Had everythig I wanted and then some. Rechargeable battery, built in USB, speed control, built in speaker (that works incredibly well for it's size if ya hold it to your ear), 2 gigs of memory, mp3 and other media storage, + no useles and confusing extras that I'd never use anyhow. | | Ease of Use:
| This (and the size) is probably what I'm most happy about. I really can't handle complicated manuals, and I've owned lots of gear that I wound up selling after not being able to use it for year. I was up and running immediately with this. It remembers most of your settings and recording is as easy as turning it on, hitting record, setting levels (or not) and hitting the record button again. Oh yeah - you gotta hit stop when you're done. See how easy. Everything else is a no brainer with only 3 main menu selection and a minimum of buttons. Laid out really well IMO. | | Sound:
| The tone is really good. Recorded a loud band rehearsal in mp3 and heard all the instruments clearly. Only reason I gave it a 4 is that other reviews claim some of the others recorders give a bit more clarity and stereo seperation, but this is fine for me. Too many options on the others for recording that would annoy and confuse me as I wouldn't have the patience to record/listen/change mics/record/listen/ad infinitum to see what works best for each of the situations I'd use it in. I'm not out to create CDs to sell with this, want it for clear reference and it does that excellently. | | Reliability:
| Can't say. So far no problems. | | Overall:
| First little recorder I ever owned that I've actually used and will continue to use. I love this thing. Can carry it in your pocket and not even know it's there. |
