YESS
Providing minimum mount to shell contact, the Yamaha Enchanced Sustain System (YESS) delivers increased resonance plus it maximizes dynamic range and sustain. Mounts are attached at the drum's nodal point where shell vibration is least effected. A nylon bushing in the rod clamp offers inhanced stability. This system is also used on our floor tom brackets to deliver maximum sustain.
100% Birch Shells
The shell is a key factor in a drum's ability to rumble or resonate. Accordingly, the Stage Custom employs 100% birch - a classic in the realm of high-class drum kits. Moreover, with its six-ply structure the Stage Custom accurately conveys the vibrations produced at the impact surface, achieving performance that overwhelms anything in its class.
Ball Mount and Clamp
Yamaha's legendary ball mount and clamp has been providing drummers with extremely flexible and stable tom placement for over 30 years. consisting of a large resin ball and wing bolt, this ingenious system incorporates an internal retaining plate to deliver maximum stability that will withstand the very rigorous performance.

| Quality is good. The shells are well constructed and reasonably easy to care for. Of course these are exposed wooden shells, not vinyl clad, and require a reasonable amount of care. Perhaps not the best beginners set. As to quality and dependability, these are YAMAHA drums, a name I think is synomous with quality and dependability. |

| As with most new out-of-the-box sets, the supplied heads are not high quality, requiring replacement. I replaced all of the batter heads with EVANS' heads including; GeneraHD snare, GeneraG2 toms,& EMAD2 kick. With a minimal amount of adjustment and tinkering, the set produced sharp detail, an overall sustained warmth, and rich tonal quality. It was impressive..... |

| My Birch set is in the "Natural Wood" and is nicely crafted with quality woods sealed with a heavy clear coat protective finish giving it a truly beautiful lustre. Much better than I expected, especially, when the set was so affordable. Such quality is expected in sets costing thousands more. |
