I bought this Akai mainly to play "bass" in my Studio One. I liked the fact that the pads are velocity sensitive. It is powered by USB and no external power is needed.
I have owned it for a few months and I still have trouble programming it with Akais software. Other than that. I like it.

To be honest, I wasn’t sure what to expect with a cheaper midi controller. This little chap blew me away. The pads are very responsive and strong. I have made hours and hours of drum tracks with this little dude and it just keeps on. Having the ability to play in different octaves with the keys are fantastic as well. I don’t fancy pre made drum tracks, so I make my own for my music and this works perfect for my needs. I use it with logic and garage band and it works seamlessly. Just bloody get it, you’ll like it.

The ease of use and setup is simple plug and play. The size of the unit is easy for mobile producers. The assignable knobs for midi are a great bonus. I’ve had the keyboard for 2 weeks now and use it with my iPad set up and I’m extremely pleased with the result. The only problem I had was buying accessories for the unit to work flawlessly with my iPad. The mpk mini is inexpensive and meets all my expectations for my on the go creative process.

This Akai mini MKII keyboard controller is I have to say one amazing product and a must have if you are a producer. This keyboard controller is easy to set up and very good to use on the go and to travel with. The knobs and pads are very durable, and very nice to use to make your music. I have also purchased the carrying case which I must say is an amazing product to have if you wanna take your keyboard on the road or even on the plane. Very compact and will fit reasonable anywhere. Excellent 'lil controller with a lot of options. Love the joystick as pitch and mod. Size makes it fantastic for travel and it pairs seamlessly with the Akai MPC Live.
Only real downsides are the fact that the plastic is pretty light and the velocity control is a little dicey.

The MPK Mini works well paired with my MPC. It does what the Mpc alone cant which is give you a more melodic feel when working on melodies and home made samples. Sometimes you don’t want to use the MPC by itself. I find that it helps my work flow by splitting the workload between my MPC and the MPK Mini. And to be honest the pads on it are really good for the price point. Definitely worth picking one up for yourself.

I bought this as an extension to my MPC Live so i cant say too much about the onboard software capabilities, BUT I can say that has a nice library of sounds and the keys feel very solid. the keys pick up on my fingure strikes very smoothly and the drum pads are nice and thick/stiff. The arppegiator is nice and the tempo change is easy to figure out.

This MIDI is incredible for the price, it’s features and specs are streamlined for anyone ready to make some music and overall it works really well. The only complaint I have is that the software and plug ins it came with don’t really work too well when I tried to get them in iOS but they aren’t really necessary especially if you’re using something like FL or Ableton or even GarageBand. If this one ever breaks I’ll probably end up buying another one.

I really like this device. The only thing I don't like is the fact that I can't control the velocity on the keyboard but I've gotten used to it and it works great. The software it comes with is really powerful but can take a while to setup and configure but is great once setup.

This little nifty keyboard is amazing for on-the-road productions. It is very convenient and easy to transport, and the overall quality of the keyboard is amazing! Its a plug-and-play type of thing, so you don't really have to be worrying about drivers. The pads on it are also very good, they feel high quality and are very responsive with no delay. As an owner of an AKAI MPK49, I'd say this little MPK Mini is up to its quality standard.

Rock solid and very versatile. I run different software depending what and who I’m writing for. In syncs up flawlessly with all of them. The pads and being able to use a sustain pedal makes it a no brainer. This replaces my synthstation 25 and other mini controller. Akai is built to last and love. Big thanks to AWS.

Dynamite comes in Small packages! I bought this for my wife to use with her laptop. It works so well for her that I’m seriously considering buying myself one
so I can be mobile-productive. I own a MPK261 that I absolutely Love! I wouldn’t trade it for anything. BUT.....for
having a usb controller that can go with you Anytime/Anywhere and have the features the MPK MINI has (ie 8 MPC pads, JoyStick , built in Appegiator, etc
It’s a MUST-HAVE ????.

Great product, keys are a bit heavy, pads are nicely responsive. The 4way pitch works the way it should, but not being a full 360 joystick means its got limited usage at least for me.
It can be mapped easily, but does not have great instructions on how to really work the midi mapper which I didnt expect it to, but its a bit overwhelming, so I suggest watching the many online youtube tutorials.
Shipping was nice and fast. I got it in 2 days. packaged safely.

I was impressed with how solid it feels. I've had the LPK 25 before which was also impressive for a mini keyboard. The full size sustain pedal jack is a nice feature for a mini keyboard. I was only disappointed that Reason, FL Studio 12, and Live don't have this model in the pre-configured controller support. It still works, but more manual configuration.
