If you want the professional sound quality you have to have professional tools and the AKG C414XLII Microphone delivers big. If you are looking for a professional microphone to record acoustic guitar with a balanced tone, your search is over. I purchased this mic for a clean Nashville sound with the large capsule but realized the versatility it offers with the multiple polar patterns. Now I'm using this mic to record mid/side guitar using the figure 8 pattern and it is phenomenal. Make sure your pre-amp has phantom power and you are good to go!

If you are looking for versatility and quality performance, under $1000, AKG C414 is a must buy. Amazing features for, "The Expert" or "The Beginner". C414's 5 polar patterns, gain staging, low cut-off filters, and roll-offs which I believe make this a MUST BUY!

Very lightweight and powerful mic, it’s crystal clear with very awesome features, I put a powerful fan behind the mic and turned the mic all the way up it picked up my vocals clearly and no fan it was perfect for my live stream.

I use this beast for vocal recording rap mostly even though it could be use on any source compared to other mics i have used in the past i noticed with this mic my vocals are pretty much where they need to be. So if you only could have one mic i highly recommend.

When researching on the forums you will here people talk a lot of crap about this mic. But I used a pair at work (live sound) to mic an
upright and I loved the results. I decided to trust my ears and not the forums. I was not disappointed! It is a true workhorse. In the few weeks I've had it I've used it on Cello Voice and Percussion with astounding results all around. The versatility and ease of use inspire creativity in the moment. I tried it on a cello in a beautiful sounding church and going from close mic'ing in Cardiod to far away in Omni mode for that awesome real reverb was as easy as pressing a button, literally. While it is not a perfect mic and you can certainly buy specific mics for certain purposes at a higher price, this mic will be with you your whole career. My only regret is not getting a pair!

Paired with a good preamp..... Trident, Daking or Neve this mic sounds great. Used on vocals, acoustic guitars, electric guitars or any string instrument. It is one of the most used vocal mics on thousands of albums. Pick one up. You won't regret it.

Extremely well made but handle with care. This is a wonderful mic and should be treated as a fine instrument as all mics of this quality.
Sonic quality on an acoustic guitar is perfect! on most vocals it's great, but not too close. Awesome for AB stereo with a cardioid mic. Love the patterns. Try them all. You'll be suprised.
Read the pictures and press the buttons! how easy is that! Place the mic in position, turn on the phanthom power and start recording. Easy as pie! American Pie at that. No Jap or Chineese junk here!
Great for Vocals and acoustic instruments. also for cymbals and room stereo. Use a decent pre amp to get the full tonal range this mic is capable of.
