When I had the microphone, it served its purpose and served me well. I would recommend this microphone if you are just a beginning streamer, artist, or voice over worker. It just needs a few vst plugins to sound a tad better than it does out of the box and connected to an interface.

I’ve only had this mic a month, and already my RODE, Neumann and MXL mics are gathering dust. Its versatility in my small project studio was definitely a contributing factor in purchasing, and the price was unbeatable as well.
So far this mic has done vocals, acoustic string instruments and even a half-stack. Yeah, a half-stack. It’s versatility blows my mind.

I use this microphone for everything from talking to friends on Discord/Zoom to recording vocals for my own music. The clarity is fantastic and the multiple pickup patterns are wonderfully useful. Really the best bang for your buck I could find.

If you are looking for an affordable "standard" Large Diaphragm Condenser, this is the one! It isn't some cheap no-name Amazon mic, and the tone really shows. Comes with a decent enough hard carrying case and a what looks to be iron shockmount held by fabric cords
This mic comes with multiple polar patterns, so it is far more versatile than many mics at this price. The Figure 8 is actually quite true, and when paired w/another 420 at 90 degrees top to bottom, you can easily set two of these in the middle of something like, say a brass band Quintet, and still get plenty of good tone without working too hard. These mics also come equipped with a built in hi-pass on them.
This mic isn't perfect: The case is a bit ill fitting for the shockmount, and these 420's are a bit bright. Not so much that they make them into trash like some other affordable brands, but enough that one notices. Also, the chrome plated grille kind of speaks "Imported mass production mic". I do wish they put a black screen on these. Lastly, the shockmount, while awesome, can be difficult to screw the mic into. It seems that they finished the shock mounts without installing the securing nut for the microphone
IF you are looking for something that needs to be a workhorse mic, and don't need *perfect* high end rejection, this is a good addition to the cabinet

This mic is perfect for someone like me. I record my personal music in a small home studio. For me it's about finding nice sounding recording gear without spending a ton of money, and this mic fits that perfectly. This mic sounds great and is very well built. As a bonus it comes in a nice case.

This is one of the best mics in this price range. It has a fairly neutral and even response throughout, producing a warm tone, but it does receive upwards of 5db boost in the 7-10khz range, producing clear highs. AMS also offers one of the best prices on this product. Recommended.

An absolute stellar piece of art. AKG did not spare any quality in producing this microphone for a variety of uses. The sound quality is amazing whether using for overheads on a drum kit combined with a D112 on the kick , for recording, or as choir mics. This has been a go to microphone for us. We current own 12. The best part is the price is extremely affordable for this piece of equipment. Pairing it with American Musical Supply easy payment plan makes if afforable for anyone who is on a budget. Awesome props to AKG and AMS!!!! We will be returning to AMS for more amazing products.
