Would you consider this product to be made well? How dependable?
My inspection and I did use a magnifying glass and a flashlight and a camera found no flaws of any kind. Only the build quality of a very expension amp like Matchless or Mesa! Absolutely solid gold!
How has it stood up over time?
I usually run my new amps nonstop for about 36 hours, and if there gonna pop they will in that window. I've had Blackstar die, Egnater die, Fender die, and Marshall die, and it was due to crappy qualty. But the good people of AMS took care of those issues quickly! So, far the TCT50C is performing perfectly.
Your general opinion of this product.
Just received the Albion TCT50C amp, and I'm really blown away with this piece of gear. It is totally responsive, and sensitive to your playing. Controls are silky smooth, and the speakers are made by Albion. I've never heard these speakers before, but my ears can tell the difference between Fane, Celestion, Eminence etc., and these Albion speakers are really insane! This amp weighs a ton at 81 lbs, and it only has side handles with none on top. So, you need to think about that when moving this beast. Comes with a cool footswitch that lets you mix both A and B channels for a blended sound. You also have a switch to drop the power to 33%, and it has a nice digital reverb thats transparent. Effects loop has a hi and low switch and is bypassable.
Playability and Feel
How does it feel, Heavy, Fast, Chunky? How was the neck? Are the controls easy to get to while playing?
I really like these major heavy duty control knobs. There are completely smooth and you can feel how industrial grade they are! Many amps have cheesy knobs and the spin rate is often a joke, but these are weighted heavy and requires effort to turn them. Really nice to super zero in on your exact tone!
Bright and snappy? Dark and smooth? Were the pickups hot, mellow, thick, thin?
To me and this is my opinion, the tone is mouthwatering like the colonels fried chicken or your favorite BBQ. Real warm, jangly, jazzy, snappy, crispy. It really is a nice piece of gear. You can use this amp for any genre of music!
How did the stain or paint job look?
Now hear is where Albion stands apart from the usual suspect amp makers. This amp has a cool black finish with a very durable covering similiar to tolex but more refined. And it has this really lush plum color panel across the front with a gold type piping and grayish mesh grill. Really has a Jaguar or Audi look vibe to it!
