Everything about this set is great except for one thing iv'e noticed. I've noticed that the hit-hat cymbal will studder ALOT. As in it will cut the note short if you hit it too hard or too fast(sometimes). Otherwise, you're in good shape. Just, keep care of it.

The sound you get from this set really depends on the amp you use. For example, when i first purchased this set i was using a Peavy 10 watt guitar amp. Please don't make the mistake i did.

I believe the quality is top notch, comparable to other brands that cost a lot more. No complaints so far.

Aside from the plastic fittings its seems like a good, solid kit. I like that its expandable as well as serviceable; doesn't seem like just some throw away item.

I was actually surprised at the sound quality on this thing. Not all of the 500+ samples are going to be useful for everyone and they are a little lacking in a few places (especially cymbals) but overall it sounds... like a drum kit. You just need to remember it needs to be hooked up to a "full range" amplification system of some sort, not a guitar amp, or it will sound like junk.

For the price I don't think you can get better. I like the replaceable heads on ALL the pads and that the kick is enough to field two beaters -- other sets seem to like using either special kick triggers or small, irreplaceable pads. The stock setup also leaves a few trigger slots on the DM5 open, so you have some room to expand.

Excellent quality for the price

The sound is very good. There are times when you can tell that with a soft hit, the volume of the sound is just lowered. The pads are very loud but the cymbals are very quiet. Upgrade to mesh heads or get mute pads if you live in an apartment.

I have played on many types of Roland, Yamaha, and pintech drum sets (None of which I have ever owned). THe Alesis DM5 Pro kit doesn't come close to matching the capabilities of a Roland or even a Yamaha kit, but the Alesis is in its own catagory. This kit is the best in its class. In my opinion, this kit is better than the Roland TD-3 and rivals the TD-4
