Studio Hi-Fi at a fraction of the cost
Quality:
HEAVY! when these things showed up on my doorstep, I was baffled at how heavy the box was, easily 50+ pounds. to quote a great movie, "Heavy is good, if it stops working, you can always hit him with it..."
Seriously though, they are very solidly made. Good cabinet work, very slick matte black finish, blue LED's in the Alesis logo look very nice on my desktop. The Sound is amazing for the price! You won't get better without spending in the 4 figures.
Features:
Bi-amped design, XLR and balanced 1/4" inputs, independant gain controls on each speaker.
Ease of Use:
If you are looking for equipment on this site you already know how to hook these up. Just remember to get decent cables, they do make a difference.
Sound:
Very clear imaging, nice soundstage. You need to position them well or the speakers get very spotty, but if you sit in the sweet spot (which is quite wide with proper placement), you get very good transparancy, and very good imaging.
Reliability:
I've had mine for a little over a month, but a buddy of mine has been using his for over 3 years without a hitch. I'm looking forward to using these for years to come.
Overall:
can't beat the sound at 300 bucks; in fact, you can't beat the sound at 1000 bucks...scary good value really. I paired them with the Beringer Truth B2092A 360W Active Studio Subwoofer for a full range studio setup, and for under 600 bucks, I get nice, full bodied response from 28Hz up to over 20kHz...can't beat the performance at this price.
