If you suffer from fat fingers or large hands and need a 1.75" nut width this is the guitar for you. I'm a bass player who wanted to learn some chords 0on guitar. Tried some other entry level acoustics that sounded fine but were difficult for me to play. When I started looking for dreadnoughts with a larger nut width the prices seemed to go up quickly. However this Alvarez at this price is a dream. I enjoy picking up the guitar and strumming or fingerpicking for a few hours. 4 stars is only because I think something this nice should come with a gig bag.

Frequent retuning, action is very good. I play all genres with this instrument. But I’m dedicated to Alvarez’s line. Best for the price.

The guitar sounds great but, so does most spruce top mahogany guitars. The frets are narrow and will eat up some strings with everyday play. my finger tips are tough and collased or at lest I thought untill played this guitar. I would feel sorry for a beginner. The pau ferro fretboard seems to be gummy even after a dose of lemon oil. I get tired of chaseing a precise tunning with the machine heads. other than decent sounding it sucks.

This was a Christmas gift for my son. We opened it today. Out of the box, this one sounds, looks, and plays better than my Gibson J-15.
I am stunned, shocked, ...amazed, and very grateful.
You now have a new Alvarez customer and my next acoustic guitar purchase will be another Alvarez!

I am reconnecting with guitar playing after a 20 years hiatus and wanted to start over with a great value instrument, nothing too fancy. I did a lot of research and decided to give this one a try. It's right what I expected and then some. The finish is classy, it looks great, as described, the materials are first class. As I mentioned, I haven't played in 20 years so I expected a lot of discomfort in playing but the guitar is so easy on the hands and fingers, it's just like going back to a great friend you haven't seen in years. Volume and tone are excellent, for a $300 instrument it's really surprising. This thing is going to get better with play and age.
