I have been using the Line6 HD500 for over a year. I was never able to duplicate its great tones live- through any guitar amplifier. I finally bought a powered PA speaker (Behringer B212D) This got me about 90% of the the way to the quality of tone I was looking for. I was ready to hook up a graphic equalizer to get the rest of the way, when I read about the Sonic Stomp. I decided to try it. This did it! I could finally duplicate the tones I was getting through headphones, to a live performance. Plus, a stomp box is much more practical for this application than a rack unit, such as a BBE Sonic Maximizer. Playability and Feel How does it feel, Heavy, Fast, Chunky? How was the neck? The 2 controls (lo contour for the bass, and process for treble) allow for fine tuning of the overall tone. Small changes here are all that is needed to nail a great sound. No reason to imagine the stomp is any less reliable or most likely better as they designed it as a guitar pedal. Reliability How has it stood up over time? Their is a huge difference between the process and dry signal. It might not be as good as the rack mount but I can't tell the difference with my ears between the small pedal and the rack mount BBE. With the unit off your guitar sounds good but with the BBE on its as if you took the cotton out of your ears and its the first time you actually hear the entire guitar. The bass, the highs and sweet mids... My Les Paul sounds very sweet and my Strat sounds different and all my Ibanez guitars sound great with this unit.
