What is your overall opinion of this product?
I love my Mockingbird. The combination of the pickup's and the electronics make this guitar able to sound like everything from a strat to a paul and some things in-between. This body shape is one of the all-time classic designs.
What is your opinion of the quality of this product? How does it work for different genres of music?
The quality of the workmanship is first rate and thanks to the electronics, it is capable of a variety of sounds that make it useful in a number of musical situations.
Heavy, fast, chunky? How was the neck? Are the controls easy to get to while playing?
This guitar is heavy and the neck feels a bit on the chunky side which means that it isn't for the small of hand. The layout of the controls means that you only need a bit of practice to get comfortable with it.
How is the tone? Bright and snappy? Dark and smooth? Were the pickups hot, mellow, thick or thin?
This guitar is capable of producing all kinds of different tones thanks to the electronics on board. I've owned my guitar for a while now and I'm still learning how to use the myriad controls to get that perfect tone in any given situation. The pickups are very hot yet are still able to produce nice warm tones when the need arises. This is a guitar that can sing or scream and do both well.
How did the stain or paint job look?
The combination of the orange stain on my guitar with the eye popping curling in the wood make for a beautiful instrument.
Did you get what you were expecting for the price? How does it compare to similar products in the same price range?
I was very pleased with the value of this guitar. You would be hard pressed to find a guitar with this kind of sound potential and this kind of quality workmanship for twice the price! So to get all that in a package for less than a thousand dollars is remarkable.
How was the action out of the box?
This guitar is very playable. The action is excellent all the way up the neck. Like any other quality guitar, you can hear the quality before you plug it in.
