General What is your overall opinion of this product? The blue acrylic BC Rich Mockingbird is a great-looking guitar. Out of the box I could tell right away that the guitar needed new strings and a setup...badly. Once I do that I feel the guitar will be quite playable. Quality What is your opinion of the quality of this product? How does it work for different genres of music? The guitar arrived in great condition cosmetically. It was made in China, but except for initial tuning and setup issues Feel Heavy, fast, chunky? How was the neck? Are the controls easy to get to while playing? The guitar is pretty heavy, weighing in at 10 pounds. The thin maple neck is buttery smooth. The controls are arranged vertically like a Tele, with a master tone, two volumes, and a 3-way pickup selector toggle switch. Tone How is the tone? Bright and snappy? Dark and smooth? Were the pickups hot, mellow, thick or thin? I haven't even plugged it in yet because of the tuning and playability issues I encountered. The dual BC Rich BDSM humbuckers should prove to be decent, if not exceptional, pickups. Finish How did the stain or paint job look? The clear acrylic guitar body is a brilliant cobalt blue. It looks fantastic! Value Did you get what you were expecting for the price? How does it compare to similar products in the same price range? The guitar listed at $899, was selling at AMS for $449, and thanks to the AMS Weekly Deal was bought at $349. So, pricewise I am very happy. To be honest, there aren't too many acrylic-bodied guitars to compare it to! Playability How was the action out of the box? Terrible. I couldn't get the tuners to hold tune and the strings buzzed against the upper frets. As I've said, the guitar REALLY needs new strings and a pro setup.
well worth the money

General Your general opinion of this product. Ya gotta admit it's cool.Has a unique tone. The head stock is the final cool touch. Dual volume and single tone control takes a little getting use to. Quality Would you consider this product to be made well? How dependable? It is well constructed I would have made the neck pocket on the treble side a little thicker(watching for that notourious pocket crack). Neck is solid with smooth finger board. Tone Bright and snappy? Dark and smooth? Were the pickups hot, mellow, thick, thin? Tone is deeper than usual humbucker due to plexi body, low E is almost like a bass on neck p/up,bridge p/up is between your normal humbucker and can sing pretty gritty. Finish How did the stain or paint job look? It's clear plexi glass, light reflect like a disco ball. The neck finish is smooth, finger board has no rough spots frets are like silk.
