Subject:
First ever Boss pedal.
Quality:
Yes, it's designed pretty tough.
Sound:
Great, as I said with the opti comp. It probably sounds great with a Fender amp also! I play a one of a kind custom dual humbucker guitar, kind of like a cross between a Les Paul and SG, so, that's a factor too.
Reliability:
Only had it a month or so, but the construction seems solid enough.
Overall:
A decent pedal with great sound(if your rig clicks with it). I play through a Marshall Class 5. This pedal sounds muffled through this particular amp. My solution to this problem is to use an Eq. However, I use an optical compressor that I pretty much leave on all the time. This mix match of boxes made the FDR1 crystal clear and just rockin! I use very high end pedals and a LOT of them, so my opinion may differ from others.
Playability and Feel:
The pedal responds pretty well to pick attack and the volume knob on the guitar. The controls could be set up better, though. I don't like the way you have to hold the footswitch down to change the tempo of the vibrato effect. It's pretty inconvenient.
Tone:
Very dark through my Class 5. Like I said, the compressor clarified it beautifully!
Finish:
I like the textured tolex-like paint job! I want to buy the '59 Bassman version too!

Quality:
Boss, to me, is synonymous with quality.
Sound:
I don't know how close it sounds to an actual Deluxe Reverb amp; but I do know that playing through a clean solid state amp, this pedal gives my guitars nice responsiveness, and a fairly wide palette from jazzy to surf to blues to hard rock. I'm very pleased with it.
Reliability:
Brand new, but it's built like a Boss. Brick House.
Overall:
I was hoping for a pedal that would provide me with good reverb, vibrato & overdrive options; and that's what I got.
Tone:
A variety of good Fender-ish tone.
Finish:
It looks inspiring, meaning I always want to plug in when I see it. That's a good thing.

Don't buy this if you have a tube amp!
Sound:
Tone is great when applied to a solid state amp. When applied to a tube amp it's just another couple volume knobs.
Overall:
Absolutely a great pedal, however, if you own a tube amp, you've probably got 90% of what this pedal is all about. If you have a solid state amp, this pedal is for you! Your solid state amp will sound like a Fender Twin reverb!
Playability and Feel:
Great
