tone is awesome,this is the first time i boosted my amp.i use it in front of the amp,and i love it.best sound and tone i have ever had period.

I have had it a year, still sounds the same as always.
Overall:
Is a great boost in front of my Boss Metal Zone distortion pedal. Helps me get a great high gain sound for hard rock, punk, metal death metal and grindcore.
Playability and Feel:
Knobs and foot switch seem to work well.
Tone:
Has a nice bright sound.
Finish:
Its bright yellow. Looks good next to my black Metal Zone pedal.

The sd-1 over drive is great for clean chanel rhythms or Clapton style soloing. I mostly use the sd-1 over drive with my lead chanel just to add an extra punch! Dive bombs, sweeps, alternate picking all stand out more. I love to hear a strong pick attack! The Boss sd-1 over drive delievers.
Reliability:
Boss is # 1 in reliability. Any Boss pedal can fall off a truck, get hit by a truck, and get picked up and still sound and work properly at your gig.
Overall:
ive used other pedals in the past but this one has the perfect tone that doesnt take away from your sound. Incredible pick articulation.

Sweet warm overdrive pedal!
Quality:
Very well made. This pedal will go on long after I'm gone.
Sound:
This pedal has a really smooth warm overdrive tone that is much like a Tubescreamer. This is GREAT as a stand-alone overdrive tone for playin blues and Allman Brothers type stuff. Plug a Fender Tele into this and play through a Fender Twin or Peavey Classic 50 4x10 and you can't help but have AMAZING tone.
Also this works great as a gain boost to an already overdriven amp. I use it this way for my Marshall JCM 800 head (and 1960AV cabinet) and I can go from classic rock crunch to super high octane metal Judas Priest "Screaming For Vengeance" tone.
Reliability:
I haven't had the pedal for very long. But BOSS compact pedal's reliabilty is well documented.
Overall:
Great looking pedal. Boss compacts are the best! Very nice price! Every guitarist should have one of these in their arsenal.

Sounds great. I like using it for solos and a good clean boost for my guitar. Definitely can have a big clean overdrive.
Reliability:
5 year warranty and overall a very reliable product.
Overall:
A great pedal at an awesome price. You can't really find ANY pedal for this cheap, much less a boss pedal. Definitely a good investment.
Tone:
Definitely a brighter tone with more on the high end.

As everyone says, this is one of the best 'out of the box' sounding pedals. The sound is really nice. Some have said that it is too 'creamy'. Creamy as it might be there is still a bit of a rough edge to it. I love the range of this pedal.
Reliability:
It's a Boss.
Overall:
This pedal is a must have. You can use this for everything from a power booster to mild distortion. Very nice range. If Johnny Greenwood had this on his board then you should too.
Playability and Feel:
It's a boss.
Tone:
This is the only area where i ding it a bit. The very low end of the Tone nob range is a bit useless. Kind of muddy. I think you could probably just cut the whole bottom third right out. The mid to high end is quite good.
