While this may not be a Mesa or Engl, it sounds better than the XXX its cloned after. The clean channel is very nice and warm, ch 2 is good for almost anything yoy would play gain wise and ch 3 is a face-melter

Not merely entry level tube amp or one-trick metal machine

This is NOT just a cheap first tube amp that you can use for metal. It's a legitimate tube amp with a wide range of tones.
Reliability:
I haven't had the amp long, but it's turned on and worked every time I've asked it to. I'm rating this a 5 because it's 100% so far. I may amend it some day, but I'm not going to put up a precautionary bad rating because I'm skeptical.
Overall:
A ten. FANTASTIC VALUE. I have played 25 years and owned a Mesa Boogie Triple Rectifier, Marshall JVM410, Rivera MT combo, Marshall DSL, Marshall TSL, Line 6 Vetta, XT Live, ADA MP-1 with Mesa Boogie power amp, Marshall JMP-1 preamp, Rocktron Prophecy II, Boss GT-8 and GT-10 blasting through Orange, Marshall and Avatar cabs. I'm not a kid with no gear experience.
Playability and Feel:
Very easy to dial in great tones.

It can be glassy clean, slightly crunchy, or full out shred (and everywhere in between).
Finish:
The plastic ornaments don't do it for me, but it's sturdy.

For 550 you will never find a better head. This thing is very user friendly, eqs to all 3 channels. The clean is smooth and creamy and the rhythm is very easy to customize. The lead is amazing, from jazz to metal and bluegrass and funk you can create excellent tones. I want to by another to do a true stereo setup out of my Floor pedal.
