Product Rating Had it for 6 months- never had very many problems EVER w/ mics in general. good product - great price I use it for acoustic gtr mostly. I was surprised at the fatness. I usually EQ and roll of some bass. Keeping the yummy krispies.

Cleanest and Quietist Mic in this price range and more.

Time will tell, but so far so good. This is one of the best small condenser mics I have used. Captures lows on my dobro/slide resonator better than audio technica ae5100 at 5x the price. Use the windscreen to cut out pick noises. Phantom power like all condensers. I actually had to back away slightly more because it captures so much, like pick noises. Once I found the right distance it was fine. I was using high end $200+ mics and like this much better. Just what I was looking for live sound in bluegrass. Complete accuracy in banjo, guitar, dobro and mandolin. Also used it between vocal and instrument and did supprisingly well.

Another Incredible CAD Value

It is built very well, solid, should last as long as any other similar condenser mic. Came with nice zippered-pouch. It's best feature is it's ability to capture acoustic guitar and voice accurately and cleanly. It competes very well with our Rode M3 and is slightly better than our AT-2021. It works very well in combination with our Studio Projects B1 large condenser mic. For home studios that do not have dedicated and proper environments for mic recording, it is foolish to spend $$$$$ on mics, thus I am grateful that Rode, Studio Projects, and CAD offer great mics for few dollars. Plug the cable in and go. I don't detect any coloration to the sound. I was so happy with the sound, I purchased a second CAD GXL 1200. AMS price matched a non-music store retailer's unbelievable price. Plus, AMS shipped it for free arriving the second day after I ordered it.

Solid value with some surprising strengths

Your general opinion of this product. I bought a pair of GXL 1200 mics with the intent to complement my cherished Behringer B1's in applications where the B1's might be too bright (such as on-axis close miking), but the GXL's strengths and weaknesses are different than I expected. First, they absolutely rock on spoken voice (male, female, and youth) -- if I were a radio announcer, these would be my first choice. Second surprise: the spatial imaging is impressively precise using either an ORTF pair or a spaced pair configuration -- significantly more precise than with the B1's, for example. Also, I have not noticed any prominent self-noise (the manufacturer claims a noise figure within 1dB of the very quiet B1). Low bass is very good, perhaps even a bit punchier around 30Hz than the B1. Highs are clean with no artificial brightness. From their overall sonic character, I suspect the GXL's would be well suited to percussion also, but haven't yet had the chance to see. Downside? The sound is more clinical than velvety
