Maxim and Elixir sound interesting but kind of pricey for what would probably be a disappointing gain if any over the XLs. Reliability How has it stood up over time? XLs last about half again as long as the Ernie Balls and Boomers I used to play. They break less often too. Overall Your general opinion of this product. I used Ernie Balls, DR, GHS Boomers, until I finally decided to give the XLs a shot about 12 years ago. Wow, what a difference... they break less often, sound brilliant, crisp attack, and they offer a 10-pack that both sweetens the price further and makes it so I don't need to run to Guitar Center all the time. Playability and Feel How does it feel, Heavy, Fast, Chunky? How was the neck? Are the controls easy to get to while playing? XLs keep their tuning really well after the first couple playings. I've tried Fender,Slinky's, Dean Markley's, etc, but nothing compares to these. Reliability How has it stood up over time?
