Makes for hands free use on a lot of digiTech pedals. I purchased this separately from the trio plus, then found out about this when I went on line because a lot of things you buy today only come with quick start guides, then you have to go online and and get the hole manual and update your new device.

I have several Digitech products that use this pedal, so I purchased an additional foot switch so I'll have enough for all the devices that I tend to use at one time. Seems to be a great, flexible foot switch!

The Trio would be next to impossible to use live without this pedal. Trio has a multifunction footswitch that does several things, including both "stop play" & "advance to next part." You have to hold it down for 2 seconds to advance, and if you don't hold it long enough, it thinks you want to stop. The 3 way pedal gives you a dedicated "advance" switch that you just tap. No holding. The other 2 switches are 1: start and stop play/learning and 2: move up or down in the "style" selection. Well worth the investment!
