Digitech Preamp
Quality:
Only had it a few weeks, probably could drop it off the roof and it would work... its solid state. Easy to program and operate. Good support from Digitech as well.
Sound:
Tone is good, but lacks the definition of REAL TUBES. This unit was a replacement for my old Digitech 2101, which was a PITA to operate, but sounded great because of the 12AX7 tubes. I was able to dial in the 2101 saturated tube setting on the 1101 and it is pretty close ;) Its a MUST to upgrade to the latest firmware from mustbebeta.com!
Reliability:
Havent had it that long
Overall:
Solid, only takes up 1 UP rack space, easy to operate.
Playability and Feel:
Its a preamp
Tone:
Good tones from this, but I feel real tubes are better...wish they would have made the 1101 with tubes.
Finish:
No paint job

Anything from studio clean to the nastiest of distortion.
Reliability:
It is rack mountable and is well built for studio or on the road.
Overall:
Best programmable effects I have ever owned, hands down.
Playability and Feel:
Feels like a tube amp. Great compressor, reverbs, amp types, tube feeling distortions.
Tone:
I started dialing in my tones after about 2 weeks of study and use. It takes a little study and then no problem dialing in absolutely anything from clean to blues to bloody thrash !!!
Finish:
Cool blue backlit display.

GSP 1101

Great. Got a B Stock and it looked brand new. No rash or markings or any problems.
Sound:
After years of digitech gear, starting from the rp10 all the way to the Genesis 3, this is the only thing that feels like a tube amp. It cuts through the mix in my 6 piece band better than any of the old Peavey tube heads I used (5150, Ultra). I run mine into a Rocktron Velocity 250 power amp with the Reactance cranked and the Definition at 5. Best sound I've ever had. I use the Engl e530 patch from Singtall and the JCM800 model as well. My rythm player with his Line 6 gear struggles to be heard, whereas I have to trouble at half his volume.
Reliability:
Not a problem yet. Good firmware from mustbebeta.com. Sucks you cant route the noise gate to after the preamp or external amp, but oh well. Suck it up and buy a Boss NS2 and run it after the amp and into the return.
Overall:
Probably the best digital preamp behind the Axe FX. Still prefer it to the Pod HD's due to the routing options. That and the fact that it has dual processors and your delay and reverb trails off on patch changes. I dont believe this is true on the Pods.
Playability and Feel:
See above
Tone:
Amazing feel, playability, cuts through the mix of 2 other guitarist plus keyboards and drums. Cleans are fantastic as well as the Lexicon reverbs and delays.

Great for home recording!
Quality:
so far, so good
Sound:
I'm not a modeling guy at heart... I used the Johnson Millennium amp about a decade ago, but since then I've sworn by all tube amps (Mesa, Egnater, Laney, Carvin, Peavey, etc.). I was looking for a "plug-n-play" option for home recording that would be realistic enough for me to keep the tracks, not re-record them. For me this is primarily a productivity tool, but the sound had to be top-notch or it wouldn't be saving me time. I'm very impressed with the tones in this unit. Some of the factory presets are usable right out of the box. Building your own presets with X-Edit is easy to do and without a lot of programming effort I'm up and running with very realistic sounds... everything from sparkling cleans, to warm low to medium gain tones... all the way to searing high gain and scorching solo sounds. There's always a vibe/feel which tube amps possess that modeling units can't replicate, but I will say the recorded end-product from this holds its own vs. mic'd tube amps.
Reliability:
so far, so good
Overall:
I decided to save a few bucks and pick up a b-stock 1101... I'm very happy with it. I'm only using it for home recording so far because I have a handful of great tube amps that I use live, but this unit is impressive enough that I'm considering using it in live applications. In my opinion all the routing and I/O options make this unit extremely versatile. Given that I'm using it for recording I've got the output set on mixer mode and the resulting sound/tone is very realistic. Not to mention it's much easier to just plug this baby in and start recording than it is to mic up an amp, get the mic placement right, etc. Great unit!
Playability and Feel:
I really love the the 1101 has the traditional amp controls accessible from the front panel... that's a huge time saver if you just want to make a tweak to shape your sound. Gain, Bass, Midrange, Treble and Level knobs are all right there... very handy.
Tone:
Everyone has their opinions/biases, but I've tried several of the modelers out there and I've been unimpressed by most. You're going to sacrifice some tone vs. a tube amp in a live setting with this unit, no question about it. On a recording the difference is less noticable. This unit does sound very impressive though and I'm sure it would "pass" with most pros and semi-pros as an acceptable tone engine if you're in need of something highly flexible (i.e. you need more sounds on stage than are attainable with a standard tube amp). Just like everything in life... it's about trade-offs and compromise. This is a great unit and most will be happy that there's minimal sacrifice to tone necessary to achieve a high degree of flexibility if that's what you need.
Finish:
I was expecting to see something cosmetically wrong with this given it's a b-stock, but everything is perfect from what I can see.

Quality is great for the price range.
Sound:
Sounds fantastic and very tweakable.

It has been a great unit, but Digitech should really release an update for the unit to allow you to move the noise gate to after the loop. That was a deal breaker for me. I have since found third party firmware for this guy that gives you more tones and usability. It's a shame Digitech dropped the ball on support.
Overall:
Great 1 rack space unit for tons of tones. Only flaw in design is that the noise gate when using the four cable method is NOT before the external loop. That means if you have an external preamp in the loop of this guy; it better have it's own noise gate in that loop as well because the loop in the GSP1101 will NOT be able to remove noise from anything in the loop.
Playability and Feel:
Tones are there to allow whatever you'd like to dial in.
Tone:
Tone is subjective; if you can hear it in your head, you can probably dial it in on this unit with enough tweaking.
Finish:
Unit looks great. Not a fan of silver rackmount units as they stand out in my rack and not in a pleasing way, but that's more of a personal opinion.

Action out of the box is awesome.

Tone is outstanding. The factory presets are so so but with some tweaking it really smokes. The 65 twin is perfect and they did a great job modeling the tube screamer

I have been playing live with it twice a week for about a year and no issues

This is a great processor. Digitech advertises it as being able to easily blend into your current set up but I use mine for my main tone and fx and it is killer i
