This is a monster...in a good way

This thing is made very well. I have played BOSS pedals all my life and the RP1000 rivals their quality.
Sound:
Clean, clean, clean...did I mention clean. I played my Fender American strat, Fender Tele and my SG through it. Ahhhhh, so many possibilities and great tone with all of them. Some patches are useless to me but others are very tweakable. I have only had the unit for a few hours and I have created a few patches that sound amazing.
Reliability:
Can't say, but I am sure it will last for a long time with proper care.
Overall:
I sold my Boss GT8, big mistake. Replaced it with a Boss ME70, big mistake. And now I find myself in front of a Digitech RP1000. I have to tell you this thing is built like a tank and looks like something from the future. I wonder if they have one at the space station yet.
Playability and Feel:
NA
Tone:
Original patches are only a foundation for a gearhead to tweak. And since I have experience doing that, it is very easy. Tone quality...amazing.
Finish:
Agai, this thing is so futuristic, it belongs in the space station. Even if just for looks....I love it.

Amazing Pedal, at any price!!
Quality:
Will last me a lifetime I am sure.
Sound:
Any configuration with this thing is pretty impressive. I have set it up as an effects only processor, and the preamp section in place of my amp's preamp. I can't see anyone not appreciating something about this pedal. If it does color your sound, its very minimal. Tone is so subjective, but I definitely love it! The effects are spot on. Sounds great with an amp, also will be great to use for direct recording. I think Digitech has hit it out of the park with this one! For the price, this is a no brainer. Just get it, you'll thank yourself for it!
Reliability:
Seems to be well made. Everything is sturdy. Switches feel strong. I'd say it will last a while. Only suggestion, I wish they wouldn't use the wall wart power supply, I hate those things.
Overall:
Was sceptical from owning previous RPs, that didn't last long. I am very impressed in every aspect. Build quality is great, the effects themselves are great (and numerous), very versatile. This is a great value for any guitarist.

Quality:
Excellent build quality. 'Could probably stop kill a rampaging hippo dead in it's tracks if you throw this at it.
Sound:
Unfortunately (and this is a BIG drawback) almost all of the amp modeling still sounded VERY DIGITAL with the exception (IMHO) of the Fender models. I've gigged with solid-state amps, hybrids and all-tubes over 30 years of gigging. And despite my very strong desire to want to really like this, no matter how much I tweaked an played with the EQ and compression and ambinace settings...it all still sounded very difital to me. Not so much when playing only at home. But cranked up to gigging volumes, it was just disappointing to me. BUT that is a totally objective opinion. What sounds great to my ears may sound terrible to someone else and vice-versa. I really wanted to like this unit because it is otherwise a remarkably well-thought out piece of equipment. A+++ for ease of "tweakability" even without a manual and solid construction.

Old school review
Quality:
Case is built like a tank and to avoid a nightmare when playing live on the same level as the crowd use right angle cables on the back of the unit. As with all digitech products I am sure it will be dependable
Sound:
I do not use the amp modeling I use the amp loop with a Mesa F30 and it sounds amazing the amp models that I have played with are great but I prefer to use the Mesa thats why I bought it
Reliability:
I have not had it long enough to comment
Overall:
The RP 1000 is the most innovative product out there
Playability and Feel:
It works great in a live performance situation the only thing I would change is a dedicated switch for the wah I keep turning it on while adjusting the expression pedal but I am getting used to it

I've played Digitech gear for 15 years and have never had an issue with any of the floor units. I did play Line 6 for a while, but for what I needed to interface with my amp this box is ideal.
Sound:
It does not color the tone of my amp. I do not use the internal preamp models. I use it strictly for its pre and post effects and the additional loop.
Reliability:
People are not exaggerating when they say it's built like a tank. It is seriously beefy.
Overall:
This box was a godsend for me. I needed a single unit that would interface with my amp, placing the right effects in the right place in the chain. I use it with my Mesa Mark IV and I have an MXR 10-band EQ in the stomp loop. I also added the extra footswitch for the looper function since it is quite fun to play with. Editing or creating patches is stompbox simple. The ONLY downside to the unit is that it does not have any MIDI functions whatsoever. If it did it would be the ULTIMATE floor unit.
Playability and Feel:
Controls - easily accessible, not prone to being accidentally tweaked since they are recessed.
Tone:
The Metal styled preamp models sounded a tad over-processed through my amp, which is to be expected, but the clean and bluesy ones were actually quite good.
Finish:
Well, I do like all of my gear in black...
Action:
N/A but the pedal was tight but smooth, the switches are all very robust, and all of the connectors on the rear panel were very solid.
