Overall Your general opinion of this product. Overall I am extremely pleased with this kit and the quick shipping service provided by AMS. After weeks of extensive budget-conscious research, YouTubing and customer review reading for a maple shell kit, this seemed like the best choice by a long shot. I did tune up and slam the Remo PDP heads that came with the kit (just for kicks), which sounded OK overall and may be sufficient for the less discerned drummer/ear. After putting coated Remo Emperors for batters and Ambassadors for resonants, these shells produced that beautiful, deep and warm tone I was looking for. Quality Would you consider this product to be made well? How dependable? You won't find higher quality maple shells and hardware within this price bracket. The suspension mounts are excellent and the lacquer finish is beautiful. Although the DW MAG throw-off and copper snare wires were a nice touch, it still didn't change the fact that this snare is less than desirable. I would upgrade the snare drum which is by far the weakest link in this shell kit and the reason for the 4 star quality rating. Sound How is the tone? Beautiful, deep and warm with coated Remo Emperor batters and coated Remo Ambassador resonants. Appearance Appearance I struggled between the Pearlescent White and Transparent Walnut when choosing the finish. Since I already own a white Pearl kit, I opted for the Transparent Walnut. I am so happy I did - the walnut finish is absolutely beautiful and the wood grain is absolutely transparent. Value Was this item an overall good value? Overall this was an excellent value and I highly recommend it - you won't be disappointed!

I like the graduated thickness hoops but they need to be better made. Sound How is the tone? Sounds excellent (didn't even try the original heads though). Overall Your general opinion of this product. The hoops are still the poorly manufactured PDPs. Ugly welded joints, some ground down too far before plating and some show the rough grinder marks through the plating. The paint has multiple spots on each drum of trash under the finish making a "pimple" under the finish. The lugs and hardware other than hoops is very good. The color and it's overall appearance is pretty ugly. Not sure I won't return these due to manufacturing defects after receiving them this afternoon. Value Was this item an overall good value? Questionable ... probably not worth the price. Appearance Appearance The "transparent" cherry is like dark burgundy paint.. 98% opaque. Can see the grain of what is probably cheap Asian maple barely with great difficulty.
