Its supposed to be universal and has a slot for guitar and bass. The guitar slot is too small for the keys on my guitar so I have to use the bass slot which is too big. Either way, I have been playing for 20 years and never bought one of these and this thing works wonders.

This is a great tool for winding strings. I used it a couple days ago when I restrung my guitar, and it worked perfectly. It also comes in handy for removing bridge pins.

This item works just fine however I also ordered several of the lower cost string winders [the Dunlop 100 at 1.99ea]at the same time. Honestly at 3.00 more than the Dunlop 100 winders I would not buy this again. I don't see or feel the extra three bux per winder worth of value. The 1.99 Dunlop 100 works just as well really.

The handle is larger [fatter] than the Dunlop 100 model winder. Don't see why that makes it worth 3.00 more?
The action is the same as the Dunlop 100, you wind it, both work the same way. Save 3.00 ea and buy a Dunlop 100 winder for each of your guitars cases.

I have never broke a string winder. I just lose them or give them away. Since they are both working fine why pay 3.00 more for this over the Dunlop 100 model?

Overall, this is a well made tool that is a necessity for anyone who maintains their guitar.
The plastic that the winder is made of is quite good. It is thick and very sturdy. This particular model has a metal rod within it to control the winding and prolong its service life. I absolutely love this tool as I have been foregoing using these and simply using my hands to string guitars. This one even has a small compartment in the handle that can hold some small bits (bridge pins, etc.)to boot!!

molded plastic over steel. Not much flashing on the mold lines. Very clean and well finished before it was packaged.
Seems like it will last a long time. Very well made.
