Quality
Would you consider this product to be made well? How dependable?
I have five MXR boxes in my pedal chain. "Nuff said.
Reliability
How has it stood up over time?
It definitely works. You have to mess with it a bit to really get it dialed in. I'm still in the process of doing that.

For the most part, this will silence the various noises that can emanate out of your amp when you use a big pedal board like I have (9 effects, a ten band EQ plus this pedal). However, it did have some trouble overcoming feedback from the higher gain settings on my Duncan Tweak Fuzz. Just got it, though, so still getting to know it.
Playability and Feel
How does it feel, Heavy, Fast, Chunky? How was the neck? Are the controls easy to get to while playing?
Tone
Bright and snappy? Dark and smooth? Were the pickups hot, mellow, thick, thin?
It doesn't suck tone that I could tell. It can hamper the size of output at times, though. So you have to push your amp's master volume a little higher to compensate. Not a big deal.
Finish
How did the stain or paint job look?
It's a grey box. Not flashy, but whatever works.
Action
How was the action out of the box?

2+ years and I'm still ripping on it without any complaint.

The MXR smart Gate noise reduction pedal is a must for any guitarist wanting to control tightness and response of your chunks, and high's and feedback when you open up for solo's!!

Brings out the best of what your guitar and amps are outputting. Definitely mess around with where you place your noise gate in your chan!!! I found to utilize it best via running it from your fx loop send and return.
