Put a set of gold variants on a older style Les Paul Custom. Epiphone model. Brought life to the guitar. Quality of sound is top of the line. Prefer this guitar over my LP modern or my LTD EC1000 quilted maple. Would recommend to anyone looking for clear acoustics or distortion with clarity. Seriously, looking for new pickups? Try these!

Like many reviewers before me I have tried many different types of pickups some active some not in the in the search for the perfect setup. I finally found mine in the EMG 57/66 set. These pickups have their own sound and if I had to put a feature point on them, I would say that they are a blend of the best features from the Retro-Active super 77's and the HET set. For me they have just the right amount of compression and also great dynamics to pick attack. I will be putting these in all of my guitars in the near future. Also thank you AMS for your payment plans which makes it easier to obtain all the gear in a more budget friendly format.

I have always liked Alinco 5 magnets in pickups and EMG has them here in the 57. Fatter mids bigger lows and nicer highs are all here in these pickups, along with the hotter output of actives. I have owned these pickups before and are familiar with them. I replaced a retroactive set with these as I had liked them in the past. They are as I had remembered them to be, warm articulate and thick sounding. I would give 5 stars but EMG needs to make coil splitting an option like the other Active pickup company does. But all in all, these definitely suits my needs and I am happy about that.

Best All-Around Pickups I’ve Ever Played

Product Review
I’ve used active EMGs before but stuck mainly with the traditional 81/60 “metal” set up.
I transferred my Les Paul pickups into my old Epiphone Dot (to give it some much needed life) and took a bet on the EMG 57/66 as the replacement in my Les Paul.
It was a bet that truly paid off!!
Not only can I get the same amazing metal tones that I’m used to, but these are so responsive to clean and low/mid gain playing. There is not one genre of music that these pickups can’t handle.
Well worth the price, easy to install, and while it may just be in my head, it’s as if they make you play better.
