I loaded these into my Squier Bass. It was a nice upgrade from the stock pickups. EMG's are easy to install and sound really good.

Offensively Simple and Insanely Powerful

I’ll be honest, I didn’t like these pickups at first, because I’ve mostly played active or Jazz type basses. What changed? Sounds better by raising the pickup height by cutting up the foam from the Box packaging into small squares as a DIY spring. All I do now is adjust the pickup height with the screwdriver. It’s optional to do it this way, I’m pretty sure there are more professional ways to raise these pickups closer to the strings but unfortunately these bad boys were designed to be flush with the body of the guitar itself which I thought was kinda lame but it’s a minor issue that’s easily fixed. Overall, these are the perfect P-Bass style pickups.

When I looked at the pickups I needed for my p bass build I listened to a ton of different models available but these constantly stood out. Also on the Talk Bass Forum I can say these were easily the most and highest recommend p bass pup of any hands down.Plus how can any player not love Geezers' distinguished tone?
Not to mention EMGs easy no solder installation, these pups are an all around winner!

I love the deep bass tone of the late 60's/ early 70's and this set delivers. I was also able to get a brighter high end with a few adjustments. Turned the tone pot down and got that growl without putting a sponge near the bridge. Installation was easy. Just don't follow the videos on You Tube. I did that and got a ton of hum. Reverted to the directions and no problem, done in a snap. All hardware is also included in the kit. In total great tone, solderless hardware included, and easy install. EMG delivers. This kit from is well worth it.

If you want an old school booming bass, then this is your go to pick up! Sounds great! Install was fairly simple. Definitely worth the money. If I bought another bass today, would I buy this pick up? You bet your (b)ass I would.

I installed this in a new Fender MIM Classic Series 50s Precision with flat wounds, but I'd expect great results with round wounds, too. For comparison, the S.D. Quarter Pound pickup has somewhat higher output, but the EMG offers superior tone and greater ease of installation. I own 2 active Lakland 5s with higher output, but this pickup holds its own! It drives my compressor pedal to produce a punchy, growling, dynamic tone with fingers or pick. It's a dynamic tone machine! I think this will be a big seller for EMG. I highly recommend this pickup!

Huge fat grinding tone that isnt too muddy or too bright. That perfect midrange crunch with solid bottom end. And really high output like an active pickup but no battery! Nice! And its easy to install. Sounds very much like Geezer's tone on his latest album 13
