Sweet Beyond Belief

Quality
Would you consider this product to be made well? How dependable?
First of all, the Lucille is well-made, solid wood that provides a sweet sustain. I remember taking it out of the box that contained it, and just running my fingers over it, and couldn't wait to plug it in. Up and down, from the abalone inlays to the volume and tone nobs to the pickups and tuning pegs, it is a beautiful, solid, well-designed instrument.
Reliability
How has it stood up over time?
Well, I have only owned it for four days, but I can see that with ordinary care and maintenance, the Lucille is a guitar that would stand the test of time.
Overall
Your general opinion of this product.
This guitar is considered probably the best acquisition ever made. It's beautiful looking. It's beautiful sounding. It's beautiful handling. It's strong (oh you can definitely tell it's made of very good materials). It is a VERY GOOD instrument to PERFORM EXTREMELY WELL. You pick it up in your hands and you just cannot put it down. Yippy Kye Yay!
Playability and Feel
How does it feel, Heavy, Fast, Chunky? How was the neck? Are the controls easy to get to while playing?
I meant to buy a guitar strap at the time of the acquisition, but no matter. I'm a big guy and this instrument lays on my lap like a content kitten. The Lucille virtually purrrrs when you stroke its strings, when you stroke its neck, when you flick the controls. I found the neck to be very comfortable, the strings never buzzed no matter how hard I played it. It was fast. I was able to change from rhythm to lead whether or not I selected anything. But when I wanted to make a change in selection, the pickups picked up all the tones nicely, whether I strummed the strings with my fingers or with a plectrum. The controls were smoothly working and effective.
Tone
Bright and snappy? Dark and smooth? Were the pickups hot, mellow, thick, thin?
Depending on how I set my instrument, the tones varied greatly from very mellow to hot and spicy. I ran from jazz to country to folk to rock and the Lucille was right there with me the whole time.
Finish
How did the stain or paint job look?
It is a beautiful color, dark, smooth, as ebony should look, and the white finish really shows how professional the Epiphone people really are. You can tell a lot of care and attention to detail went into this instrument. I can't wait to get home and to play 'her' (Lucille) again!
Action
How was the action out of the box?
Action out of the box was great. I read somewhere that someone felt they needed to change the strings. Well, I didn't feel that way. The strings were and are great. I was able to stretch them and rarely did the instrument go out of tune. Because of the close action, it was free and easy motion from rhythm to lead guitar in a flash. Ahh, the Lucille is excellent in all respects.

very well made for the price point.
If properly taken care of like any good instrument should be, it will last a lifetime

Haven't had it all that long but it appears to be very reliable

Great quality/sound/playability for the dollars invested
Playability and Feel
How does it feel, Heavy, Fast, Chunky? How was the neck? Are the controls easy to get to while playing?
it has great balance and perfect weight. The no F holes design is very nice. It eliminated feedback. The neck is very good. 12" radius and a 1 11/16ths nut width. The frets could be finished a little better and polished better but that is not an issue that should deter the purchase of one.
The controls are the standard 3way switch 2 volume/2 tone controls and the addition of the 6 way Varitone switch allows infinte tonal possiblities.
Tone
Bright and snappy? Dark and smooth? Were the pickups hot, mellow, thick, thin?
It can produce any variation of tone from bright and snappy to soft/warm and mellow to a Tele twang to a Strat tone with the use of the Varitone
Finish
How did the stain or paint job look?
The finish was great. Bindings are a vintage cream, the fretmarkers are done flawlessly with no fillers. The headstock inlays are superb.
Action
How was the action out of the box?
the action was 3/64ths at the 12th fret on the low E string and 2/64ths at the high E string with no buzz or dead notes anywhere. At least on mine it was.

Quality is very good. Well worth the money.
Reliability
How has it stood up over time?
I've only owned it a couple of weeks, so I can't comment other than to say that I don't see where anything can go wrong with it any time soon.

I recently looked at the Gibson model of this guitar and I feel that the quality of this one is as good, if not better, than the Gibson. I wasn't sure about buying the Epiphone instead of the Gibson at first but I'm so glad I did now.
Playability and Feel
How does it feel, Heavy, Fast, Chunky? How was the neck? Are the controls easy to get to while playing?
This is one of the best playing guitars I have ever picked up. After playing it, I had to go back and re-setup my Gibson SG because it didn't play as good.
Tone
Bright and snappy? Dark and smooth? Were the pickups hot, mellow, thick, thin?
You can make this guitar do about anything you want it to do. There isa lot of options to tune in to the sound you want.
Finish
How did the stain or paint job look?
The finish was beautiful on this guitar.
Action
How was the action out of the box?
The action out of the box was great. I only made a couple of small adjustments to it. I didn't care for the strings that were on it and changed those pretty quick after playing it for a couple of hours.

Would you consider this product to be made well? How dependable?
I think this guitar is very good quality, especially for the price. As far as dependability goes, as long as you treat it as an instrument and not try to drive tent stakes into the ground with it, this guitar should last.
Reliability
How has it stood up over time?
New purchase, but if it holds up like the other Epiphone guitars I own, I'm sure it will last a long time.
Overall
Your general opinion of this product.
This guitar plays great and has a vocabulary of sounds that is amazing. Plus, it feels as solid as any guitar I've ever played. The factory set up: intonation and action, were perfect right out of the box.

QUALITY:
great guitar good sound very light and durable
Playability and Feel
How does it feel, Heavy, Fast, Chunky? How was the neck? Are the controls easy to get to while playing?
The fingering is articulate. I have small hands, but the neck feels great, and it's fast. The controls are just like my Dot, so I'm comfortable with their location on the guitar.
Tone
Bright and snappy? Dark and smooth? Were the pickups hot, mellow, thick, thin?
This guitar is an encyclopedia of tones. What can be done with combinations of the varitone, pick-up selection, as well as the tone controls for the pick-ups and pick-up volume is nothing short of amazing. The amp I use is a Rivera, it's a great match.
Finish
How did the stain or paint job look?
The finish is rich and deep. As good as I've seen on any guitar.
Action
How was the action out of the box?
I usually like the action a little lower, but I have to say the way it plays, I'm going to let it just like I got it.
