Product Rating Product Review Great bass. Cool vintage tones. Came needing a setup really badly, but once that was done it sounds great. Not a huge fan of the bridge style, but not a deal breaker at all.

Product Review I have been wanting an SG style guitar since I traded my first in the 70’s. This bass fit the bill and then some. Playable right out of the box with h minor tuning applied. It just doesn’t get any sweeter for the price. Much less than the price of a Gibson yet a higher quality than your typical 400 dollar instrument. And with AMS no interest purchasing options there is no excuse not to have the best gear you deserve. Rock on!

Product Review Been using these exclusively since I bought my first one over 4 years ago. The pickups on these are unmatched, powerful and versatile. The volume and tone knobs are so responsive, and the neck profile is excellent. I tune to D standard and the depth of tone is just superb. The only flaw is neck dive, which you won't notice when the whole band is going and you're flying along. Fantastic money for value.

Product Review Been looking at getting one of these for a while now and I finally took the plunge. The quality of the bass is top notch. It has a booming sound and the different tones and volume controls give you some flexibility for the sound you need. The feel of the bass is like that of the SG Guitar.

Product Review This bass has been a game changer for me. It is able to play different genres and the pickups offer great tones while using just one or both! I noticed some fret buzz on the 1st-3rd fret on my G-string, but after a new set of strings and a setup I have zero complaints! There is some neck dive but it doesn’t make a difference at all in my playing and can be fixed VERY easily by placing a new peg to connect your strap to. I recommend this bass for intermediate players and also experienced players looking for a high quality bass on a budget.

Product Review Not a very lively sounding bass. Not appropriate for slapping or bright jazz. Really nice for heavy rock. Pickups a little dead sounding. Very good construction. Feels solid and easy to play. Nice action if adjusted properly.

Product Review Always wanted an SG style bass, finally pulled the trigger and Im pretty darn satisfied.. The neck is super comfortable to hold, though it does have some depth, the actual width of the neck is pretty decent in contrast. The body is super lightweight, with a nice finish to it. Electronics have some good thumpy range to them which gives some fun tones (especially through an Orange crush). Only real complaint is the heavy headstock matched against the lightweight body, but that is to be expected. Overall, 9/10 would definitely recommend to someone looking for something aside from a PBass or Jazz.

Product Review I’ve played guitar for many years and I got this wild hair to learn to play bass. This is my first bass and my first Epiphone and I couldn’t be more pleased. I’ve only had it for about a month but I couldn’t be happier with my purchase. It’s not the least expensive nor is it super expensive,,,I got a great deal on the price I paid. Not only does it look good but it sounds even better. After the initial tune up, I was thumping around on it in no time and making my wife crazy...I sounded terrible but it wasn’t the instruments fault. The neck is smooth and very playable. I compared it to my buddy’s high end Fender bass and to be honest I had a hard time telling them apart. So...if you’re looking for a very affordable and playable bass ...this Epiphone is the one you want. I’m very happy with it

Product Review I purchased this bass because of the SG style. Since then, I've used it to record tracks for my bands EP, and took it on the road to play shows. This bass got a lot of comments on how nice it looked, as well as how it sounds. The head stock is heavy, so it tends to dive, that's my only complaint, but was expected.

Product Review Real talk the bass is beautiful to look at the sound quality from the pickups have a good solid punch and it has some diversity to it, it's pretty comfy to play, but you need to keep a hold on it because it is neck heavy and sinks down, now here is the negative, they sent it to me with a high nut, unfinished frets that needed to be filed down, so right away I had terrible fret buzz, I do lutherie on the side so I was disappointed with the work that had to go into it, but outside of that with a proper set up and some upgraded parts this bass is pretty good, maybe I just got a bad draw on mine, because it felt unfinished.

Product Review What a pleasant surprise. Beautiful instrument. Set up was near perfect for me and the bass arrived in tune which is amazing. Beautiful piece of mahagonay. Way Better than my Ibanez that it replace and that was $1000 Verdine White. Great pickups, great neck, great setup. Crazy good bass for the money .

Product Review First off... I've been playing guitar and bass for a long long time. I've played the good, the bad, and the ugly. I've had custom instruments made for me. I've graduated from recording school. I've been in the music business for 49 years. So, I know what I'm talking about. The Epiphone EB3 is one well constructed instrument. It is also quite heavy. The mahogany wood of the body gives it a wonderful deep resonant sound. The rosewood fingerboard is really beautiful with excellent fret work, and it gives off a nice warm sound. (It would be nice if Epiphone offered the EB3 with a pau ferro fingerboard.) The neck is more on the fat side than thin and may be a little difficult to play if you have small hands. The 34 inch scale neck is nice and long and a breeze to play, but it is also top heavy which means if you don't support it, it goes down, down, down. The pickups are really amazing. Between the Sidewinder and Mini-Humbucker, I'm able to get the sound I want. The bridge is rock solid. The hardware is really nice. The weakest point on the EB3, for me, are the tuners, which I will eventually change in the future. But don't get me wrong, the tuners are quite good and definitely keep their tuning. The strings supplied with the bass were quite good, which was a nice surprise. The set-up of the EB3 I received was spot on for me. I didn't have to make any adjustments at all. The truth is... The Epiphone EB3 bass is an amazing bass no matter what the price is.

This is a very well constructed guitar. Solid as a rock. When I got it home, a quick tweek of the truss rod and voila great little guitar All you need, that's for sure. Tone is great, again; thanks to the 3 position pickup selector...easy to have 3 distinct sounds at your finger tips. Your general opinion of this product. Great, retro style guitar Plays and feels very good. I'm a fan of that type of neck...this thing is heavy. Any tone you want can be delivered. I was amazed at how good this guitar looked. I did need to adjust the truss rod initially, other than that, she was ready to go.

When the real deal (GibsonEB3) is a little out of range, this guitar is the next best thing.

By: Ford Prefect from Glenview, IL USA      Submitted: 4/26/2012

Very well made. Sturdy as a mule. The body style. Takes me back to my youth when Townshend was my hero, and his SG just captivated me. Since my my semi-pro work made me a bass player, I finally realized that I should have been buying EB3s all along just to emulate the feel of the SG I always wanted. The SG style just has that indefinable something that makes it the epitome of "electric guitar." Creamy (no Jack Bruce pun--honest!). The accessibility of the fretboard and the shorter neck make the EB3 feel almost like a six-string. Spicy variety. Fills the bill for most tunes that our group plays. Outstanding. I just wish Gibson/Epiphone would stick to one style of pickguard for at least a couple of years. They're all great, but some are greater than others. Great. Great for people with wide hands but do not have Jeff spider fingers

Very well made. The tuners are excellent! The sound is great! The neck pickup sounds HUGE. The bridge pickup needed to be raised a lot, since it does not have much output and sounds thin. The neck is heavy, but that's it. Neck: Thick and dark (with tone control down), very high output. Bridge: Thin and bright, low output. Good Slightly low

Made like Epiphone before Gibson bought the company. Recreates the controls and finish of the original unlike the Gibson SG Reissue. As stated, the possibilities are endless with this instrument. A dream compared to a Fender. The controls let you create the sound of any bass out today. As with most bass humbuckers, a compressor can clean up any muddiness, but not lose that thunder. Flawless as always. A little high, but easily adjusted.

Very well made. I can't find any flaws. It plays VERY well, and I own a '62 EB0. I've kept it in great shape, and this thing outplays it, no lie. It's a EB3. It's certainly darker than average, but that mini-humbucker is wonderful. You'll get warm, fat tones out of it with just enough top end to make it useful. It's much lighter than the '62, and the neck is super comfortable. I will be (and recommend) installing a thumb rest in bewteen the pickups. Warm, articulate, yummy. The finish was awesome. Kudos to the guys and gals in China. It needed a little adjustment, but every new instrument should.

very well made, tough finish i would say the best feature of this guitar is the 1.65" neck. i have short fingers for a bassist and this beauty fits my fret hand perfect. decent, i reccomend using pedals to get the perfect tone from it. a very fast and sleek feel. easy to slide up and down the neck. pretty good sustain also. the two tone and two volume with a 3 way selector make it easy to get the right tone deep and dirty to thin and trebly. put thicker strings on to get more ooomph! great looking ebony way too low to play drop d

I've seen many a chinese made guitar, and this is outstanding. Solid hardware, everything is tight and secure. Finish is flawless. There was a bit of a dent in the neck pick up cover, but I could care less. Unique pick-ups, unique tone. Overall Awesomness. BEEF. It's meaty, thunderous, boomy, thonky and plunky. Like most Gibson/Epi basses, it's a neck-diver, but it plays beautifully. I love the neck and the semi-flat strings. Plays like butter. You can get the beefy thunder from the neck pick up, or use the bridge PU for a more mean, articulate sound. Between the selector switch and individual vol and tone controls for each pickup, the range of available tones are great, more so than with most basses. Finish is seemless and shiny. You would never know this was a $300 Chinese-made bass. Action was fine out of the box, but it will need a proper set up. Could be a lower and there's a couple spots that have some weird sympathetic harmonics, but a proper setup will take care of it. This is a long, set neck that's under a lot of tension, so it will likely need a setup after being shipped around and subjected to various and random temp and humidity fluctuations.

Your general opinion of this product.

QUALITY:
I have used everything from $9 models to alembic. For It's price the quality of this bass is outstanding. The machines hold very well, the fine finish, and don't forget the set neck!

FEATURES:
I cannot think of anything to improve this bass

EASE OF USE:
I gave this bass a 4 because it is basically useless for slap style funk. I don't play that so it is not a problem for me. But my friend hated playing this bass and I can understand why he did not like it. But the reason he didn't care for the bass is the exact reason I love it. This bass is is thunder, not lightning.

VALUE:
I use this bass as my everyday gig bass. If you would have tole me several years ago that I would b e using a 300 dollar bass, I would have thought, Why will I be bankrupt?

SOUND:
big bottom end. Just the way a bass should sound. Make sure you use a nice set of flat strings. and you will be in lower register n

QUALITY:
All mahogany, beautiful cherry stain. Nice bridge, fully set up.

FEATURES:
Double pickup, volume and tone control for each in addition to pickup selection switch provides a full variety of settings.

EASE OF USE:
The longer, thinner neck makes this a joy to play.

VALUE:
I own eight bass guitars including two vintage American Fenders...this EB3 is worth twice what I paid.

SOUND:
You can get any sound you like from this guitar. Much of it will depend on the amp.

Your general opinion of this product.

QUALITY:
My EB3 arrived in perfect condition, not one flaw! I expect it to last many years to come, the factory in Korea is top notch! But..now i hear they are now made in China! if this is true i will never buy another Epiphone, i would rather pay more for the Korean built ones any day!

FEATURES:
I love the Gibson style and those Trapzoid pearl neck inlays are a must have!, I would love to see thicker Schector type tuning keys and vintage white color and Electric Blue!!! with black hardware.

EASE OF USE:
This bass almost plays itself, the neck is nice and thin where it needs to be, the Headstock needs to be lightened up somehow, its way too heavy and hangs lousey.

VALUE:
I think its well worth 299.00, if you finished it in White or a nice Blue (like the blue on a Toyota FJ Cruiser, i would gladly pay 400.00 no problem.Hey..where is the Gibson Logo on the truss rod cover? I want it back!!!
