Recommended by Paul Barrere of Little Feat~ and ME!
Quality:
Gorgeous guitar,I am a beginner/intermediate level; however my rock-star friends say it looks and SOUNDS like a $3000 or more guitar. Nice gold grovers too!
Sound:
Nice deep lows and crisp bright highs. The tone RINGS out nice and full.
Reliability:
Just got it....looks solid
Overall:
I have been eying this for awhile, and was torn between the Epi Hummingbird and the EJ200...and it honestly has exceeded my expectations! Then when I saw Paul Barrere of Little Feat recommending the EJ-200 in an interview about Epiphone guitars last week..I knew it was a sign and my mind was made up I had to have it! AND NOW I DO..so happy! this is my 2nd guitar purchase and sure it won't be my last.
Playability and Feel:
Love the neck, great playability...I am a girl with small hands and was a little afraid to get the Jumbo, that it would be too fat, but its really slim and easy to play..Tuner on top is nice to have
Tone:
It was bright and snappy highs and dark smooth lows...I have not plugged it in yet, but the tuner works great.
Finish:
I got the natural flawless finish..very glossy! Not a scratch.
Action:
The action was almost perfect right out of the box...maybe a tad high, but i want to play slide too so that's ok.

Not a "GIBBY", but VERY CLOSE
Quality:
Excellent quality out of the box. Tweak it to professional grade, and you have an outstanding product. This guitar was made well.
Sound:
It is EVERY BIT a sweet, sweet sound to my ears, and to those who would give it a try.
Reliability:
Like I said, I bought this from AMS almost 4 years ago. Over time, I just had to replace the e-Sonic2 system that it came with. It didn't do this guitar justice. On that note, I hope Epiphone takes notice: the e-sonic2 system is NOT a good thing to have on this and other guitars it has it on. Other than that, this guitar holds up well... at least mine did.
Overall:
As far as value is concerned, I cannot understand why one would pay for a $4K Gibson. This was an excellent guitar when I bought it from AMS almost 4 years ago. After tweaking it a bit (replaced the plastic saddle and nut with bone; replaced the strings with Martin 13's (medium gauge) and intonized for it; replaced the pickups with an LR Baggs Element Active Pickup System; replaced the bridge pins with bronze; this guitar went from being merely excellent to being ABSOLUTELY OUTSTANDING and ready for a world-class big stage.
Playability and Feel:
I have 6 other acoustics that include a Martin D28 and a Taylor 400 series with Taylor's "Expression System" in it. -- I find myself picking up the EJ200CE more than the others. Also... the neck is what truly sold me on this guitar. It is PERFECT for size hand and fingers I was born with.
Tone:
As mentioned, the tone was excellent. It is what one would expect out of a super jumbo. Compared to the Gibson model, it might not be quite "there", until you tweak it and put another $200.00 dollars worth of upgrades, that includes switching the the pickups. But, once those upgrades are done... Wow!
Finish:
Mine came with absolutely no blemishes. This guitar was near perfect in this department.
Action:
The action was okay. But, I am one of those who prefer it just a tad bit low. So, when I replaced the nut and the saddle, I adjusted it to my own specs.

One Magnificent Guitar!
Quality:
All in all, a perfectly gorgeous guitar with a beautiful and bright sound. With an obvious set-up to one's custom liking, this could the best guitar one could potentially own.
Sound:
The tone is phenomonal! It has a very bright and deep tone. Of course, being a jumbo it is going to have a big sound.
Reliability:
Well, I haven't had it for very long...but I am sure it will last me a very long time. It will be a vintage guitar I look at in memory when I am old! Surely, it must last a lifetime.
Overall:
I have recently just purchased this guitar, and it is a completely stellar guitar for the price! I love this guitar more than my seven others! It is an outstanding guitar I believe.
Playability and Feel:
Once again, out of my box...it seemed a hard I suppose. The action was a little off but the factory strings is what killed my fingers. When taken to a guitar tech to get a few adjustments, it seemed fine. I replaced the strings with some Elixir light medium nanowebs...for some reason the factory strings on it seemed to hurt my fingers...and I have been playing for quite some time. So, replace the strings and get a good set-up and you should be golden. The controls are also outstanding!
Tone:
The tone, as said, is very bright and smooth. Great guitar for all kinds of music genres I believe. The tonal control is even greater with the Esonic2 pickup system. Has great versatility!
Finish:
The finish is wonderful! There are no blemishes of any kind. I have the vintage sunburst...the most beautiful in my opinion. It certainly stands out from the rest.
Action:
Okay, out of my box...it was general okay. It was not bad for being in a package and all that but hey, that is what a guitar tech is for, right? A few adjustment on that part and voila!

Good Guitar For Price
Quality:
Seems like it is constructed very well, very solid guitar.
Sound:
As others have stated, had to change strings as the factory strings are a little flat. Found that the Daadario Phosphor Bronze lights sound great.
Reliability:
Just purchased it, have no opinion yet. Does feel solid however.
Playability and Feel:
Slightly fatter than normal guitars but easy to get used to. Neck is smooth. Guitar is fairly light and comfortable to hold. However, the strap pins are large, would recommend getting a good straplock, I personally like Dunlop.
Tone:
The tone is good, even better when I changed out the strings.
Finish:
Got the Natural Finish, comparable to $3000 Gibson.
Action:
Good Smooth action.

Use Elixers and let it speak!
Quality:
It is a pretty solid guitar in my opinion.
Sound:
A bit dead out of the case....bought it used. Put on Elixer xtra-lites .010-.047 and it speaks.
Reliability:
Have had it only a short time....we'll see.
Overall:
Love the look and feel. Has a neutral look, not too flashy but enough.
Playability and Feel:
It seems very comfortable for me, 'cause I've played jumbo size acoustics for years.
The frets glide by easily when moving around the neck.
Tone:
With the pick it has good volume, and fairly bright, without losing all the base.
With finger picking the treble is very clear and the lower tones enhance the overall sound quality.
Play a martin and a taylor...them play this one. Compare price! You'll see the value here!!
Finish:
The finish is ok, although mine was used and has a crack about 12" long in the clear coat.
Action:
Good action. I played $2400 Taylors that were not as much to my liking as this one.

It is very well made for the price.
Sound:
I has a real deep lively tone to it.
Reliability:
Had a month now and it has held up great.
Overall:
I've tried the Gibson and this one and for the money, it blows the Gibson away.
Playability and Feel:
I feels just like a guitar should. It's easy to fret and fast to play.
Tone:
It's very deep sounding. The pick up setup in it is a great combo.
Finish:
It was a very good sunburst. I've seen some crappy ones and this has to be one of the better ones.

Great guitar for the price
Quality:
For the price of this guitar you can't go wrong. FOR THE PRICE THIS IS A GOOD GUITAR. Buy it
Sound:
It has a great jumbo tone. The sustain is average but good. It outsounds my other acoustic guitars. For the price a great sound.
Be sure to change the strings when you get it. the factory string are not very good.
Reliability:
I have had this guitar for over a year now and it has stood up well to traveling. It seems like I am going to have it a long time. I have several guitars and I will walk by them to get to this one because that is the tone that I want.
Overall:
A very good jumbo for people on a budget. Great sound. Nice looking guitar. I bought the sunburst and it is beautiful. It took my breath away when I took it out of the box. I've played more expensive guitars that I didn't really like. But then again I have played cheaper guitars that I didn't like. This one was a pleasant suprise. For the price you are not going to find a lower priced jumbo that will satisfy. I used to be a Gibson snob. Epiphone has taken quality a step further. You could maybe say it's a generic Gibson that you will like.
Playability and Feel:
Action is good out of the box. It plays well. The neck is good and fast. Not to thick..not to thin just right for me. This is a jumbo so it might not feel right at first. But you grow into it
Tone:
The tone is another thing I would like to stess. Is it as good as the $3000 guitars.......no. Is it adequate.......YES. FOR THE PRICE THIS IS A GOOD GUITAR.
Finish:
This is the one that I want to stress. In another review it said that the guitar was ugly. Mine is beautiful. I looked it over very closely when I bought it. I will say it again........It took my breath away when I opened the box. It hangs on the wall just daring me to play it.
Action:
Action is good out of the box. Fairly low. I will say it again....change the strings

Great sound...Horrible finish/details
Quality:
The body construction seems good. Epiphone just tried to dress it up with very low quality and poorly assembled add-ons
Sound:
Beautiful. Warm and rich with lots of resonance and sustain.
Overall:
This is a great guitar if you can't see. Sounds great, but looks awful. If you are buying this guitar for the looks, keep looking. The detailing is glaringly cheap and becomes the focus of attention when looking at it.
Playability and Feel:
Its a jumbo, so it feels a little awkward at first if you're used to a standard size.
Tone:
Very warm. On par with a jumbo
Finish:
The binding on this guitar is pathetic. I can't believe this was passed off as acceptable. It looks like the headstock inlay was cut out with childrens scissors and the fretboard is very rough and almost seems unfinished. The pickguard was peeling off out of the box.
Action:
Seemed good to me. Again, i'll have to see if it needs adjustment.

Who needs to spend $3,000 on an acoustic?????
Quality:
Very good construction. The best of materials for a guitar
in this price range. If something were to happen to it, I
would replace it immediately.
Sound:
To die for!!! Whether sitting around the campfire, or live
on stage, this baby will project. My ONLY complaint is that
the sound hole is a bit small for the big rubber plug you
can by to keep if from feeding back. I'll have to engineer
something to make up for this.
Reliability:
I bought it two years ago from AMS, and it has held up amazingly well. I expect it to age well, and be as beautiful
in 20 years as it was when it came out of the box.
Overall:
This is the third EJ-200 I have owned. The first two were
the first non-electric non cutaway models. This is by far
the best, and my favorite acoustic guitar I've ever owned.
(and I've owned over 240 guitars in my life) This eats them alive.
Playability and Feel:
Excellent playablility, after I tweaked it. The feel is great. If feels like the QUALITY instrument that it is.
I have played the Gibson version, and I actually like the neck on this baby better.
Tone:
The tone is what you want to get out of it, and you do that
with the onboard pre-amp. I have been able to come up with
any usefull sound and tone I can think of.
Finish:
The finish is absolutely gorgeous!!! Never seen a prettier
one in my life.
Action:
Truthfully, the action wasn't the best. But I put on a set
of light guage Marquis bronze, tweaked the truss rod about
half a turn clockwise, and that's all it needed.
