This guitar plays and sounds great for the price. It's as close as you can get to the real thing but for very little money not several thousand dollars.

This guitar is brand new but seems pretty well made for what it is. Like I said though, I had 3 models come and go via returns to AMS that were 2nds or defective before I hit on this one.

I own an original 1965 Texan, but I try no use it too much. I've tried the Elitist versions of this guitar and thought they were okay and thought I'd see how this model fared. Although I received 3 lemons, the 4th model appears to be the charm. For an Indonesian-made guitar this piece is a remarkably nice guitar and they've recreated each detail of my original guitar down to the finest detail.

This plays and feels almost identically to my original 1965 Texan. Of course it feels cheaper overall, but it has the same chunky but very narrow neck. The neck is very gritty/not well-dressed, but after some playing that will clear up. The controls are hard to get to as they are small and at the top of the soundhole.

This is a bright sounding guitar, but it is also very full sounding. It doesn't sound much like a "real" Texan, but it is pretty close... Similar to the recent J-45 guitars by Gibson, in fact.
Finish
How did the stain or paint job look?
The 2nd version of this guitar I received had terrible finish flaws. it was definitely a 2nd. The first and 3rd were nice. The 4th, which I'm keeping, is a bit flamey but very nice overall.
Action
How was the action out of the box?
Terrible. It was very high and the frets and strings were dirty (on each guitar, actually). The first guitar I ordered had neck issues and the third was simply terrible. The fourth required just a simple setup to get it playing nicely.

Was far better than I had ever expected for a guitar in this price range. It's a no brainer at this price.
Playability and Feel
How does it feel, Heavy, Fast, Chunky? How was the neck? Are the controls easy to get to while playing?
Feels light and comfortable. Neck is slim and fast and fun to play. the Nanoweb pickup controls are a little tough to get use to, a little awkward to get at.
Tone
Bright and snappy? Dark and smooth? Were the pickups hot, mellow, thick, thin?
Mid really. good all around maybe on the darker side should age nicely.

Perfect. I ordered the Vintage Cherryburst because the Natural was sold out but I am very glad I did. The pictures online do not do it justice. It is gorgeous.

Beleive it or not perfect. First time I have not needed to set it up,ever. Luck of the draw, I think.
