Finish How did the stain or paint job look? ok, but they torqued the pickguard down so tight it chipped the gold finish where it attached at the top. Action How was the action out of the box? Couldn't tell cause bridge pickup wasn't installed right. Was sitting in guitar at a 45 degree angle. If it wasn't for the strings and case holding it in no telling what kind of damaged wouldve been done!

Being more used to the thinner neck on my 1999 Standard I thought I might not like the bigger profile on this but to be honest I'm begining to see why guys like the 50's style neck now Tone Bright and snappy? The tone is over all warm and sustainful...the rhythm p/u has a smoother sound especially with the tone rolled off a little...The treble p/u is my favorite with a fat punchy mud-free sound with the perfect ammount of mids...both p/u's clean up perfectly with the volume knob. Not being much of a goldtop guy in the past, I just love the black pickguard, pickup rings and switch washer as opposed to the usual creme...it really changes the look of the gold for the better. Action How was the action out of the box? It was set up great...I'm going to need to tweak it a little for my string preference but other than that, you could have played a gig with it straight out of the box.

Pretty good right out of the box, I just tuned it and started playing. I feel it can be mind blowing with a pro set-up.
