"Yes" The guitar is very dependable y I know I have one and it's great! So for greate Reliability How has it stood up over time? so for awesome! Overall Your general opinion of this product. "Awesome" Playability and Feel How does it feel, Heavy, Fast, Chunky? How was the neck? Are the controls easy to get to while playing? The only thing I don't like about this guitar is the head stock is heavy. Tone Bright and snappy? Dark and smooth? Were the pickups hot, mellow, thick, thin? I love thing about this guitar excep the head stock it's a little heavy. Finish How did the stain or paint job look? Great! I have the cherry finish. Action How was the action out of the box? I had to lower it a little bit not much just a little.

Quality Would you consider this product to be made well? How dependable? only had it for a week but it seems to hold up well. nothing has broken, no wear, and most of all it still sounds great! Reliability How has it stood up over time? not sure yet only had it for a week Overall Your general opinion of this product. I feel this guitar is very well made, will withstand anything i try on it, and is all around a great guitar. Ive played many Gibsons as well as some epis, and theyre all really great guitars. they really know what theyre doing in the factories. Playability and Feel How does it feel, Heavy, Fast, Chunky? How was the neck? Are the controls easy to get to while playing? This is where its kinda off...The neck is a little heavier than the body (which ive heard of this in all SG's) making the guitar a little off balance. i dont mind it at all because im used to playing SG's as well as heavy Les Pauls, but to someone who is used to a balanced guitar it might be a little difficult to get used to. Tone Bright and snappy? Dark and smooth? Were the pickups hot, mellow, thick, thin? The pickups on the faded g400 are great. heavy fat tones then a flip of the switch and you have bright and snappy tones. these same pickups are on my epi les paul ultra2 and i loved them on that, so when i saw they were on this i knew it was going to sounds great. Finish How did the stain or paint job look? I love the faded look it has to it. makes it look awesome and leaves no finger prints anywhere! the neck is super slippery and it makes it nice and fast for solos. Action How was the action out of the box? the action was quite good out of the box. i did have to adjust to my specific needs but it was darn near close!
It's a good guitar for the price. It's a player.

Quality Would you consider this product to be made well? How dependable? I think this guitar is well made for the most part. But hey for the price, it does meet my expectations. Reliability How has it stood up over time? I think it will stand up over time. Too early to tell at this juncture as I have only owned this guitar for a few months. Overall Your general opinion of this product. Overall, I think this guitar is a good deal for the It's pretty much a no-frills unit, but that's OK, as the description does not lead one to have high expectations as compared to that of a Gibson SG. It is a solid unit by Epi. Given that, I'm happy with this guitar. Playability and Feel How does it feel, Heavy, Fast, Chunky? How was the neck? Are the controls easy to get to while playing? It's very playable. Weight is good and controls are fine. The neck does not seem as solid as I would like. It seems to flex a bit, which is similar to using a whammy bar. Once I had the guitar set up properly, the neck seems pretty fast and has a good feel to it. Tone Bright and snappy? Dark and smooth? Were the pickups hot, mellow, thick, thin? Tone is what you would expect. It has some snap, but is also good for someone who likes to play blues. No complaints here. Finish How did the stain or paint job look? Finish....it holds true to what Epiphone advertises. Again, no frills, but I like it. Action How was the action out of the box? Action out of the box was pretty poor. I had to spend $50.00 to get it set up correctly including a set of Ernie Ball Extra Slinky's. It now plays great. Don't know who inspector 4 is, but he needs to pay closer attention, before he allows a guitar to leave the plant.

Quality Would you consider this product to be made well? How dependable? To make this so inexpensive im sure the mass production has a lot to do with the low price. They are about half hand made, half machine. I had a lengthy conversation with a Epiphone Rep at a Music Convention here in Denver. They have really stepped up their over seas quality control and have a new factory for the Epi Les Paul & SG lines. Cheap labor unfortunately plays a big factor aswell. But the finished product is outstanding for the low cost. Reliability How has it stood up over time? Well, Ive dropped it about 8 times, smashed into my drummers cymbals and his head, stabbed a couple speaker cabs and spilled beer on it. Nuff said. Overall Your general opinion of this product. I've owned this for about 2 years now purchased right here at AmericanMusical and I swear it sounds better and better everytime I play it. So overall, I am very impressed. It has physically held up quite well as I have definitely put it through the ringer. This thing can take a beating and stay in tune. Playability and Feel How does it feel, Heavy, Fast, Chunky? How was the neck? Are the controls easy to get to while playing? Go to your local guitar shop and play both of them with a pro setup. If you still think the Gibson is worth 4 times the price or you just cant handle being seen with an Epi, by all means, get the Gibson. To me, this is the best guitar for $300 out there. Once setup, it plays beautifully. Tone Bright and snappy? Dark and smooth? Were the pickups hot, mellow, thick, thin? Bright, thick, warm, crunchy... whatever you want. Finish How did the stain or paint job look? Its simple which is just fine with me. I actually like it because it looks better once you beat it up a little. Im not much for polishing so the finish is a non factor. Im all about playability and sound. Action How was the action out of the box? It needed to be professionally set up originally and a once over about a year later. Totally normal for any guitar. I like very low action and with a little fret filing when needed I couldnt be happier. Keep in mind that this is being shipped across the country and thrown in and out of trucks. The chances of you getting one of these perfectly setup and in tune is about 10%.

Quality Would you consider this product to be made well? How dependable? It is well made as best as I can assess and It feels like it will live forever. Reliability How has it stood up over time? I have only have it for 6 months, no problems to report. Overall Your general opinion of this product. This is as close to a Gibson SG as I could get. I have no regrets. It plays smoothly and is a great beginner guitar. I have a friend teaching me and he loves the guitar. Playability and Feel How does it feel, Heavy, Fast, Chunky? How was the neck? Are the controls easy to get to while playing? It plays smoothly and for a begineer, no problems. Tone Bright and snappy? Dark and smooth? Were the pickups hot, mellow, thick, thin? I like the sound from the 60's...Clapton, Allmans etc. and it does well with the amp limitation and my skill level. Finish How did the stain or paint job look? Excellent. Love the faded vintage look.

Quality Would you consider this product to be made well? How dependable? Epiphone uses really good parts, and doesn't cut corners like other companies tend to do. The Grover tuners keep it in tune, and that is a wonderful thing! At this price point, it's amazing the quality of the instrument that you are getting. Trust me, you won't be disappointed! Reliability How has it stood up over time? I've just gotten the guitar, but I can tell it was really well made. I have faith in Epiphone products! Overall Your general opinion of this product. This is a great guitar! I received this as a gift for my birthday, and I couldn't be happier! This is my first SG, and I'm in love with it. I've had such a nice experience with Epiphone, that I will continue to be loyal to the brand in the future. Playability and Feel How does it feel, Heavy, Fast, Chunky? How was the neck? Are the controls easy to get to while playing? The neck feels great. It's a thinner profile overall than a Les Paul neck. I own a Gibson Les Paul Studio Lite, and can tell you my hands got a bit of relief when playing the G-400. The dual cutaway design of this guitar, lets you get all the way up to the last fret with ease! I have no problem bending notes, and it just feels great! Tone Bright and snappy? Dark and smooth? Were the pickups hot, mellow, thick, thin? I love the tone. I had it in my mind that I would need to upgrade the pickups. However, now I realize, I don't really need to. The neck pickup will give you Slash sounding blues tones, and the neck is hot enough to cover Dimebag Darrell like tones. Need I say more? Finish How did the stain or paint job look? I chose the Worn Brown finish, and I love it! It has a Satin finish, so it is really easy to clean, and maintain. Gibson told me that all you need to do to clean it is usa a slightly damp 100% cotton cloth. No finger prints like on glossy finishes. It was a perfect choice for me! Action How was the action out of the box? Perfect. You get a checklist with the guitar, that someone inspected everything. There was no buzzing, or any issues. I took it out of the box, tuned it, plugged it in, and I was ready to rock!

Quality Would you consider this product to be made well? How dependable? Yes and no. I think the body should be about 1/8" thicker with a denser grade of wood, even at this low price. Reliability How has it stood up over time? This guitar has a set in neck - a key feature and eye-opening at the $300 price point BUT the slightest bending back on the neck - basic frontline rockgod moves is enough - will whammy your notes a halfstep up, it literally feels like you could snap the neck from the body with very little effort. Overall Your general opinion of this product. Being born in 1961 like the Gibson SG, I'd wanted the '61 reissue for a long time, couldn't afford it, so I got the Epi worn cherry model as a sort of placeholder in my collection. I chose the worn SG for $50 less than the heritage cherry and was disappointed by 1) how uninteresting the industrial mahogany looks and 2)how dull and not "worn" the finish actually is. Guitar polish helps a little in the sheen department but not much. I will probably try auto polish as some posters have had luck. The color was darker on mine than in any of the online site pics. Playability and Feel How does it feel, Heavy, Fast, Chunky? How was the neck? Are the controls easy to get to while playing? The guitar felt shockingly brittle out of the box (delivered in winter ice cold) but has gotten meatier as it's warmed up and I've warmed up to it. Feels better all the time, stays in tune well. The nose dive problem on SGs is way more pronounced in this model...the nosediveiest guitar EVER, man. Do not buy it if you can't handle this design characteristic, because the BigLots furniture department wood Epi uses makes it even worse than regular SGs! The three-inch leather strap I bought for more money than I like to pay for straps only helps a little. And I am afraid to drill a neck bout hole for the strap button(ala Tony Iommi model) because I don't trust this "malargoney" at all, don't want a horn to fall off. That leaves moving the body straplock up a bit. Tone Bright and snappy? Dark and smooth? Were the pickups hot, mellow, thick, thin? Tones are pretty good out of both pups, tone control is average through its turns. BOTTOM LINE: I'm keeping her but I'm not not in love. Finish How did the stain or paint job look? Not impressed, Epi. Richer grains on $100 entry Deans. I will probably poly it up (not the neck of course) at some point with a satin spray, why not, it's not a Gibson. While we're on the subject of finish, don't expect a GIBSON truss rod cover like in some of the pictures. It'll say SG. For some reason, that mattered to me so I ordered a replacement GIBSON truss ord cover off Ebay for ten bucks, problem solved. Also, what's with the hideous orange pickup selecter cap? Spraypainted it gloss black, solved. A slight (1/2") ding on the back - and raising cane about the misrepresented truss rod cover)yielded me a $60 credit bringing my cost down to $239. So my price/happiness ratio is much better now. Action How was the action out of the box? Perfect. I swear. Plays AMAZING.

Quality Would you consider this product to be made well? How dependable? For $300? This is better quality than most guitars 4 times its price. Buy this thing. Reliability How has it stood up over time? Too early to tell, it's an epi, I have several and they have stood the test of time. Overall Your general opinion of this product. I just got this guitar today, and I am in love with this thing! Playability and Feel How does it feel, Heavy, Fast, Chunky? How was the neck? Are the controls easy to get to while playing? Smooth. The neck is just right. The controls are in a great spot. My one and only issue is the orange knob on the pickup selector switch. Tone Bright and snappy? Dark and smooth? Were the pickups hot, mellow, thick, thin? Perfect. Pickups are hot, I don't even want to touch them. They're great the way they are. Any tone you want, this can do. Finish How did the stain or paint job look? The picture does it no justice. The worn finish looks absolutely amazing! Action How was the action out of the box? Almost no setup required. They paid attention to it.

It is comfortable and fast playing, I have small hands and the neck is not too large Tone Bright and snappy? Dark and smooth? Were the pickups hot, mellow, thick, thin? Has a bright tone, very mellow sound Finish How did the stain or paint job look? Nice warned looking finished, I didn't want the flashy look Action How was the action out of the box? Quality Would you consider this product to be made well? How dependable? I absolutely love this guitar. Reliability How has it stood up over time? I just got it but I baby all of my gear, so I don't think I have to worry about anything happening to it. Overall Your general opinion of this product. It seems that the people at the Epiphone plant in China, are upping their game and the quality of their instruments are IMO, better than MIA Gibsons. This guitar is no exception. I got this today as part of a trade and was immediately blown away by both the tone and craftmanship of it! Playability and Feel How does it feel, Heavy, Fast, Chunky? How was the neck? Are the controls easy to get to while playing? The neck on this is actually faster than that on my old MIM Fender Strat. The Grover Tuners do a great job of maintaining tuning stability. Tone Bright and snappy? Dark and smooth? Were the pickups hot, mellow, thick, thin? I'm a huge AC/DC fan and this guitar suits my quest foor that "Angus" tone without shelling out the outrageous prices for a MIA Gibson. Finish How did the stain or paint job look? Mine has the faded Cherry Red finish which I love. It gives it a retro look and I like the yellowing of the Block Inlays on the neck. Well done! Action How was the action out of the box? I did have to do a setup in order to accomodate my personal tastes. Once I did that, everything was just fine.
