Another ESP LTD Homerun

What is your overall opinion of this product?
This is an amazing guitar. The pictures don't really do it justice because it almost looks like stickers for the worn look, but believe me it looks amazing. Combine the amazing design and feel of the EC series with the JH pickups and finish, and you have yourself a legit guitar.
What is your opinion of the quality of this product? How does it work for different genres of music?
I have owned a few LTD EC series guitars and this one is basically the same thing as far as design. LTD does not skimp with the hardware or wood or craftsmanship. It is solid and designed for real use and abuse. Even better with this guitar it already looks (and feels, the back of the guitar someone took a screwdriver to for the buckle scratches) abused so you cant really mess it up. From the tuners on down, it is quality.
Heavy, fast, chunky? How was the neck? Are the controls easy to get to while playing?
Starting out 15 years ago with a Les Paul, I have the need for that still today. This has the Les Paul look but a much better feel. It weighs a lot less, the neck is thinner and the action is top notch. My only complaint and this is more of a personal preference more then an issue is that of the two switches on the guitar only the bottom one is real. The top switch is just for show. I am use to using that top one so its an adjustment using the bottom one. For me, it is harder to switch in the middle of the song with it at the bottom. Maybe you could rewire it? I don't know, but that's my only beef with the feel.
How is the tone? Bright and snappy? Dark and smooth? Were the pickups hot, mellow, thick or thin?
You want that JH metal sound, you got it. The pickups have an amazing high end crunch on the bridge and a huge low end sound at the neck. Use the bridge pickup and the right amp settings and you have the classic Metallica crunch. Flip the switch up and clean up your amp and you can go just about anywhere with it. AMAZING SOUND. Great sustain.
How did the stain or paint job look?
Again, the pictures make it look a bit cheesy but in real life it looks amazing. I read that each guitar is hand sanded and scratched so they are all a little different. It doesn't really look worn, like a real guitar thats been abused for 10 years would, but its still a cool paint job. And since it already has flaws, you cant really mess it up with a bump or a belt buckle. I think with a couple years of use it will look even better.
Did you get what you were expecting for the price? How does it compare to similar products in the same price range?
Value.....ehh. The EC1000 is basically the same guitar and 150 less. You are paying extra for the JH name and (maybe) the JH pickups. I am not so sure its that different from the EC1000 but we are splitting hairs. I have always wanted this guitar so I spent the extra bucks. If you are on the fence, go with the EC1000 to save a few or pick the Truckster to show off your love for Metallica.
How was the action out of the box?
Perfect. As always ESP LTD does it right. The strings were a bit dull but the action and intonation were exactly right.
Another Great Ltd!

Would you consider this product to be made well? How dependable?
High quality. No this isn't a more expensive ESP. But it's not a cheap LTD and you can "feel" the difference.
Your general opinion of this product.
Very good overall. Compared to my snakebyte this guitar is right there and the snakebyte is amazing!
Bright and snappy? Dark and smooth? Were the pickups hot, mellow, thick, thin?
Modern "metal" sound.
How did the stain or paint job look?
Finish is different. Looks cool, and I like the satin feel compared to a glossy feel.
