Product Rating Product Review Essentially, to this day and for the last ten years or so I only use 1 of 2 drumheads on my snare. This one, the HD Dry by Evans or the Tripple Threat snare head by Aquarian. The only reason I use each is because generally the rest of my kit is either Aquarian or Evans and that makes the difference. I don't see a huge difference in the two and in fact, I feel like these are the only two heads in the world by different companies that sound so similar. The HD Dry is not going to give you huge overtones because well... it's DRY. The holes around the edge are great. Evans states that those whole "remove stray harmonics" and I think that hits the nail on the....eh hem...head. This is an extremely dry head - very focused with a lot of attack. I play a lot of different styles and record even more and this works in all environments.

Product Review This is one of my all time favorite studio snare heads. When used on a Black Beauty or any other bell brass type it sounds like a perfect radio ready snare even before processing. If you're doing a lot of brush work you may want to avoid the Dry with the vent holes, because wires can get stuck in them. Still a favorite, though.

Product Review What I really like about this Evans HD drive he has miniature air holes built into it which allows air to escape it also has a built-in muffling ring from underneath which is two plies plus the ring it's a very heavier head especially if you play Rock roll out last most of the ambassador has I used before all my snare drum which is 31 of them all have this head now
