I saw this was on sale so I decided to pull the trigger. It arrived well packaged and when I opened it, the photos do the finish no credit. This is remarkable in natural light. The action was average out of the box and a simple set up to my.preferences was required, as expected. The bridge seems to work well but I don't use it often. Frets were level and everything just feels well made. I don't have any complaints so far after a few weeks of playing. The pickups are what really shine, for a guitar at this price point, it sounds incredible. I was wondering if I'd have to replace them but I like the sound they produce. Give it a shot, you'll be glad you did.

This EVH Wolfgang Standard is Awesome .Neck feels worn in before it’s even played . Pickups sound hot . Buy an EVH D-Tuna and a low friction pot from AMS (the best price you’ll find ), slap them on and it’s the same as the Higher priced Wolfgang !

I’m a Ibanez man having been playing Ibanez for over 30 years but figured I would give the EVH a try.........man I love this guitar ultra fast neck great tone light and great balance ......pickups are responsive with great clarity would definitely buy another one if my wife would allow me to had a 16th guitar!!!!

This guitar is KING. The neck feels like butter. The pickups are so pure, you could play any genre of music. Straight out the box set up was doodoo but with 45 min while playing and adjusting everything came together. The finish on this guitar is like no other. I looked so hard to find any kind of blemish but it was to perfect. You won't be upset.

Good starter that you dont have to add or modify anything and keep forever. For the seasoned pro unable to sink 1000 to 2600 usd in a Mexican or American made, this works well.
I have both Indonesian (Standard) and Mexican (Special) and both play great. For me...the standard is more comfortable.
Can't go wrong with this one.

Knowing that this is a fender product and at this price point I honestly expected the 'Squier' version of the Wolfgang. Not so at all. The fit and finish of this guitar is well above what I expected. My only issue was that one of the pickup mounting screws had about worked itself out but I tightened it and no more issues. The top is a veneer but a pretty good one. Well worth the price

Out of the box this guitar needs adjustments. The bridge is set way too high.
After a few adjustments that I made it was playable.
The pickup height needs to be adjusted also.
The bridge is set to detune and return only. You can change this setting yourself... Make sure you watch videos on how to do it on youtube.
The one piece maple neck is nice and the jumbo frets are filed down on the edges to keep from ripping your fingers apart.
The plastic volume and tone knobs are a bit cheesey.
The floyd rose bridge is very responsive to the little tuning knobs so you should have no problems keeping in tune without having to loosen the bolts on the nut up top. For the price I'd say it's a decent guitar... You'll have fun ripping out some Van Halen tunes with this one. Enjoy.

Pros:
*Once properly set up, sounds great
*Zilla Burst is absolutely gorgeous
*Floyd Rose is of decent quality
*The knobs are fast and responsive
*The neck is my absolute favorite neck of any guitar i've ever owned/played. So fast, love the compound radius. It was perfectly straight and the action was low.
Mehs:Pickups are OK, they dont suck but they also dont scream. They are a perfectly adequate pickup to play most styles of music without really excelling in any one area
Cons:
*Setup out of the box was abysmal and almost lead to me returning it
*Floyd was not set 'flush' to the body and went out of tune easily (needed a full set up), and wasn't set to
'dive only' the way it's supposed to. It was so high that you could easily pull back on it and raise the pitch a step or so.
*Pickup selector switch is supposed to be wired backwards (which I like) mine is NOT wired correctly and turned sideways so I dont flick the switch up or down but left and right (easy enough fix but should have been set up correctly to begin with)
* Even though my guitar said new, it had a small finish crack in the binding.
I want to point out none of these issue were AMS's fault but Fender's QC process. After a few hours of work, I got the guitar properly set up and she sounds great. I was a little miffed about the slight ding, but im not going to return it.
All in all if I had to do it again would I? Probably not, I would probably have gone with a PRS or higher end Epiphone.

This guitar looks so much better in person. I putchased the Cherry Burst was was worried that the picture looked to btight. Knifa cartoonish. When i opened that box i was stunned just jow beautiful this axe really is. Tuned up easy intonation spot on. Plug her in and she screamed. That you Eddiie. If it wasnt for you. I've owned and demo'd several EVH guitars from the Ernie Ball Music Man through today's Fender/EVH models. But the EVH Wolfgang Standard has renewed my appreciation and enjoyment for the brand once again. With a $600 price tag, this guitar has plenty of features such as the contoured belly cut and forearm cut which aren't found on other models. I was pleasantly surprised about the neatly dressed frets for a guitar at this price! I'm also diggin' the chrome black hardware...WHAT?!! The Floyd Rose tremolo, nut and string tuners look awesome! Tuners could be better as they don't turn evenly. But once the strings are locked down, there's no need to fuss with them. Sound-wise, the guitar rocks just as hard as the Special and USA models which I've owned at one time or another. I purchased the Zillaburst finish and dubbed it "Baby Zilla"! Lol! It may be considered an entry level/low-cost model but it roars just as well as the higher priced Special and USA models! The EVH WG STD is a monster!

So...growing up in the 80's,Eddie was the man.I studied his riffs endlessly from age 13-16. I soon migrated to other players of that era but never forgot Eddie.How could i?Many years pass by and I hear that he has a line of guitars out [with Peavey I do believe at that time]. Being a single dad with two children I knew at one glance that those guitars were WAY out of my price range though I really dug the design.Fast forward to last year and I check out the Wolfgang Standard at the local music store and immediately ws drawn to the instrument.It fit my hands like a glove .It was uncanny.A few days later I came across the deal from AMS and they had my favorite color in stock[Purple Burst]. I pulled the trigger instantly and a few days later It arrived SET UP PERFECTLY! This is not just a high gain machine...I have played a lot of Blues and even Jazz on here and it does it all brilliantly. Gave 5 stars as the trem only dives[unfortunately].Otherwise this is a great all around guitar.

Nice guitar, now that I had it set up by specialist at my local music store. Was definitely not playable out of the box. The Floyd Rose had to be adjusted, action set, and strings changed (the B string had a kink in it that I did not immediately notice). The specialist was surprised how much he had to set up/adjust to make it playable.

I've owned the evh specials and got this standard. I must say this guitar, for the money, is an awesome purchase. All the quality is still in this thing. I know they say the pickups are wolfgangs pups but they aren't quite as good as the special and the neck pickup is not good, sounds really muffled sounding but still dollar for dollar I really think this thing, u can't beat it

Impressed with AMS for such quick delivery and double boxing for protection. 5 of 5 for that. It arrived perfect and beautiful. I had to polish the frets though, because they were rough, so only 4 out 5 stars. Outside of that, no issues with quality of hardware, fit, or finish. The neck is to die for. The intonation was perfect, and I just had to set it up to float with 11's for Eb tuning. That done, it just feels so good that I want to play it all the time. It's just a joy. The feel is perfect for me, and the more I play it, the more I like it.

First thing before I buy a guitar or anything online is to read the reviews from every website that carries it. I was actually going to buy the upgrade made in Mexico but there were lots of reviews about bad paint job and problems with string buzz. I decided for the price to go with the Standard made in Indonesia, which I'm glad I did. I've owned a Peavey Wolfgang for 15 years that I paid twice as much for and I'm loving this guitar every bit as much as I did or more than the Peavey. First thing I did was get it in tune and check for string buzz. (These don't come plug and play out of the box. If it buzzed, I would have sent it back). Once I was happy with that, I ripped into it and set up the trem the way I like it. I pull the center spring and run the 2 outsides with a /\ shape. Not so stiff but secure. Pretty amazing tone for the price. Neck feels great. Can't speak for the pickups yet because I haven't been able to crank it up, but so far, I'm stoked.

being a standard it sounds very good right out of the box.i was gonna buy a jackson and im so glad i didnt,its a beautiful guitar,i recommend this wg standard to any level guitarist.. buy it its worth the money,free shipping and i got it in five days this deal cant be beat
