If you have any reservations about this guitar don’t second guess it, it’s great! I’ve purchased many guitars in the past 30 years and few have been as well built and set up right out of the box. I actually had to raise the action because it was too easy to play! Pick ups were adjusted perfect, dtuna was set spot on. Flawless paint, electronics everything. They sold it to me as a minor blemish item but I didn’t see anything wrong. Get ya one

I have nothing negative to say about this guitar. I absolutely love it. I bought mine in the purple sparkle finish (I always loved Eddie's purple Peavey-era Wolfie).
I own an early 2010/2011 Wolfgang Stealth, the ones made in Japan, and this one despite being made in Mexico, is of equal quality. There is absolutely no misfire on this guitar. I pulled it out of the box and it had even held its tuning and the action was perfect.
The floating bridge is outstanding and takes the abuse and comes right back in tune without issue. Get this beauty, it's a "forever guitar" and a no brainer even at 300 or 400 bucks above this price tag. It really does feel like a 2k guitar.

This is a very good guitar for the price . Plays well . Easy up and down the neck . The pickups sound decent . The only issue I had was the floyd trem setup being flush to the body . I like to pull up so I adjusted the springs and tension . Now it does what I need it to . No complaints about this axe so far

First one I received had a cracked fret board. Called up and a new one was on its way next day. AMS nicely done. As to the fiddle. I am so happy this guitar is amazing. The set up out of the box was on point minor tune and off to playing. The tone in this guitar is incredible.Very happy EVH and AMS customer.

I would highly recommend these guitars. Built like tanks and the quality is amazing! When Eddie passed I really wanted one and now have three! The pickups sounds great and the tremolo stays in tune great. The d tuna is an awesome option as well! Can't say enough good things about them! Go grab one and rock!!!!

Guitar arrived, I popped it out of the box and started playing it unplugged.... it had great sustain acoustically, was in perfect cosmetic condition and set up perfect.. once I plugged it in... oh my sweet mercy! I couldn’t believe how great the EVH specials are... I tried it through a few different amps and couldn’t be more pleased. While I was skeptical at first, thinking since it’s a special it wasn’t gonna be that great, I’m here to tell you, you will not be disappointed!

Great guitar and excellent craftsmanship. No issues what so ever with anything on this instrument. I would also like to say I ordered this the day Eddie Van Halen died at 3:30 pm. It was on my doorstep the next day before noon! That was with 2 day free shipping and I don’t live in the same state where it was shipped from. WOW talk about the sense of urgency! I ordered purple and it looks amazing. Pictures just don’t do this guitar justice. If your an EVH fan, do yourself a favor and look into this one, especially if the USA made is out of your price range! American Music Supply is a great store. I have purchased a lot through this place.

I played so many types and brand names from fender to Gibson guitars ,with no distress to them and they are great guitars but this EVH has what your looking for great action ,One if the finest temple system not to mention Eddie own D tuner. These guitars are an incredible value. I also have one in Ivory. Some people say these Mexican Specials are inferior to the older MIJ/MIC EVH Specials, but I do not agree. These MIMs have Arched Tops and Jumbo Frets!

years ago I owned a Purple Peavy Wolfgang and sold it when I fell on some hard times. Recently I went shopping to try to find one just like it but the price was just too high, so I made the decision to buy one of the new Fender made Wolfgangs. I have never been happier with that decision. It came ready to play, the ebony fretboard and unfinished neck make for absolute comfort and speed and I think it might even be a bit lighter than my old Peavy I cannot recommend this guitar enough.

Once I stretched out the strings, she played great out of the box. I love the versatility of this guitar. The pickup variations can really add depth to your playing. The neck pickup can give you that SRV, Clapton and Hendrix sound while the middle gives a full range sound and the back humbucker can give you the full rock-n-roll tone you love. The neck is fast and smooth. I really like it. I have been playing for 30+ years and this guitar renewed my love for the instrument and rocking out! Very happy with the purchase. Had to return the first one I received due to paint and nonfunctional setup. But the second one was totally worth the wait! Killer guitar! Thick ebony fingerboard, quality hardware and articulate pickups! Beast for playing hard rock to clean sounds. The DTuna is a little tricky to get used to but such a genius invention. Especially for playing covers. This guitar is a purchase you will not regret as your main axe or addition to a huge collection! Buy it before they are gone!

I bought the Ice Blue and it is beautiful. I think I have been fighting guitars all my life, this plays so easily compared to my others. Rated it 4 stars due to the setup when it arrived. There is fret buzz on the low E and A strings only at the first fret, think the fret is a tad high, frets are also sharp on the edge. D-Tuna was basically non-functional but works fine after properly setting it up per instructions.
Two hairline fractures in the finish at the neck pocket one on each side, this is a common issue apparently for the Wolfgang and I am shocked that it still exists for as long as this model has been in production, I know the cause and the fix for it being a woodworker all my life, Eddie hit me up and I will tell you how to remedy this issue ;)
Besides the fret issues and finish cracks, this guitar is the best I have owned. Sound, playability etc it is everything I have looked for in a guitar.

The neck is built for speed. Wolfgang Humbuckers with 3-way switch and tone control; give you a wide variety of tones to work with. Trem system is smooth and responsive. Neck pocket is sculpted for access to lower frets. I own wolfgangs and EBMM EVH model; this guitar continues that design line. No flaws in craftsmanship. Always adjust a guitar to your liking. I have purchased many guitars from AMS. Always happy with service.

I watched alot of videos about the various guitars I had on my wish list and the ones about this Wolfgang had Eddie talking about tone alot. That is one thing this has, great tone. The one thing that really jumped out at me was the sustain I could get out of my bends. Coming from a 52 Tele RI and strat player. It was also shocking how much faster I could finger the notes as the neck has a smaller radius which allows me to move up and down the neck faster and get better angles of attack on the fretboard.
One thing I really liked is the selector switch position. In the videos they all say this is backwards from most guitars but never really know why you toggle up for solos. It's so you don't switch to your rythm pickup accidentently when you go to do your tapping. One thing I did from time to time on Les Pauls.
Pairing this with my 5150 pedal allows me to get Eddies sound through my Peavey Classic amp and the guitar sounds really good through the clean channel with my MXR reverb pedal I could get a good blues tone.
One last note. You can tell this was engineered by a player not a guitar tech. The truss rod adjustment is easy access so you don't have to take the neck off, the pickups are mounted to get the best possible tone and the neck feels realy really good to me as I have smaller hands. But the most shocking feature was the sustain I can get when bending a note.
It has made me a better sounded guitar player for sure.

Just got this guitar back from getting it set up. The guy asked me if I had changed out the pickups myself. I told him no it was stock. He said the wiring was burnt up. Also the Floyd Rose does not work right.
I am very disappointed in this guitar. Very poor quality control and I have no idea who changed the pickups out.

I've owned several Wolfgangs through the years, including a USA model. But I keep coming back to the Wolfgang Special Stealth because it rocks hardest of all! I prefer ebony fingerboards for the bite they give when fretting single notes or chords. The playing dynamics are great, and the tone of the EVH humbuckers are right in the sweet spot to my ears. Whether you're trying to imitate EVH himself, or just appreciate a satisfying and enjoyable rock tone, the Wolfgang Special Stealth is the real deal.

I love this guitar. I have owned many strats, a les Paul, a custom Carvin, and an EVH standard. This guitar can compete with the best of them. The guitar is solid and cosmetically flawless. The neck is smooth and fast. The frets are rounded with no sharp edges. The guitar is light, with the basswood body, but well balanced. The sustain is good. The pickups sound good, however I will likely upgrade them soon. The guitar did require setting up on arrival, but any new guitar does. The floyd rose bridge works great once setup. I had to buy extra springs to hold the bridge down while playing, the guitar only comes with 2 (not enough tension even after tightening the spring claw). I love this guitar, it does everything I want and looks good doing it.

This thing is a monster. Some things they don't tell you in the description is that when you buy this guitar you automatically play better. IT'S LIKE MAGIC... not kidding... The volume pot is so sensitive makes doing tricks so freaking easy. EVH has out done everyone, he has thought of everything. From the D-TUNA to the super hot pickups, take it out of the box and start tapping. The neck is supper slick and you can almost push the wammy through the pickups when it comes back, its perfectly in tune.. This is a must for all guitar players...

Just received my new wolfgang special in orange crush. Wow! What a bitchin color. She feels plays great, with fab tone, smooth neck. Outstanding fit and finish. Went through (2). Returned the first with issues, it's replacement was just as bad. Finish flaws, terrible setup, and cheap, cheap, cheap Licensed Floyd Rose. Very poor quality, tuning stability was worst I've experienced in quite some time. I'll go with Schecter or ESP, thank you. Their top-shelf instruments from World Music in South Korea put Mexican Fender products to shame. Far superior quality.

Did not work out of the box, poor quality control. Not worth the price. Cheap hardware. Saddles had to be shimmed, neck had to be shimmed, frets had to be leveled. So yeah, get the standard version. The speacial is essentially the same except you get a carved top and the deluna. Not really worth the extra $400

Was really shocked by the quality of this guitar. Absolutely love the neck. It feels so good. Was fully expecting to have to replace the pickups on this but they are really very good. Better than the JB's on a couple of my other guitars. If you're hesitant about pulling the trigger on this piece, don't be. It really is a great little guitar. After some experimentation, I've even got the D-Tuna set up perfectly. This is a workhorse of a guitar.

After researching online at several different stores and youtube reviews, I decided to purchase an EVH Wolfgang from AMS. Why? Because they have top customer service reviews and many options for you to be able to purchase the gear you want. Not to mention they give you an extra year warranty on the product you purchase.
The EVH Wolfgang Special is very light in compariosn to others in it’s class, the neck is fast and form fitting to your hand. The sound from the Hot Pickups are exactly what you expect and amazing. The EVH tremolo and D-Tuna work flawlessly and stay in tune like it’s meant too.
Totally recommend this product if your looking for a Rock machine and this company for any of your gear needs.

First off I love this guitar ! As a Les Paul/ Marshall straight up guitarist for most of the 22 yr. and change I've been playing I can say it's a welcome change of pace. The finish on the Wolfgang Special Stealth I have is stellar. The guitar has so much sustain and resonance it's unbelievable, and the tone is monsterous ! The pickups are hot and articulate your pick attack and notes extremely well. It's very easy to play and to took some adjusting going from that ball bat neck I have on my Les Paul Classic to the Wolfgang. Overall I'm a happy customer, I still have My LP and My Marshalls. Just ordered the 5150iii 50 watt head to compliment both guitars so let's see what kinda sonic greatness I can wring outta these things !

Ok so AMS awesome experience with purchase and shipping. Actually double boxed and sent not like the reviews of EVH guitars being send in original box!
Now guitar is the stealth special, I have seen reviews say it is a flat top and I can tell you my made in Mexico stealth is not a flat top guitar, but don't know if it is flamed or what due to finish.
Frets and case! This is my only complaint of this guitar. It should have SS frets for a $1000 guitar but I knew it didn't when I ordered it. Secondly, no gig bag or case? Really I think this $1000 price point is the difference between musician and student and it should have some type of case, but again my own feelings.
The guitar is spot on, finish is awesome! Pick ups are amazing!!! Floyd and D Tuna, again are amazing and this guitar just feels like a high end guitar! I'm a happy customer even with my issues of frets and case. I would but another without any hesitation.

I've owned a lot of guitars before, I got it yesterday, it was love at first sight! I fell asleep with in in my hands last night. The action, the neck, the sound, and it's lighter than my S Series Ibanez. My playing actual improved a major leap. I have had Les Pauls, Custom Strats, and dozens of guitars through my life, but in five minutes I knew I will never sell this one. I bought it used to save it from the pawn shop for a friend, and planned on selling it. This is a keeper!

It's true that this item ships without the tremolo bar, I contacted support and they said they will ship one out, a month later I still haven't received, but I messaged again and they said it's coming from EVH Support. The fretboard is really smooth and the action is perfect, so it plays effortlessly, the pickups are beyond amazing and you can get so many different tones from this EVH, and the Drop-Tuna is so great, I absolutely love this guitar!

I love this guitar!! It is an upgrade from the Peavey Wolfgang Special, that I used to own. The craftsmanship is amazing. The pickups are hot!! The neck is perfect. Overall, the EVH Wolfgang Special, is one guitar not to pass up. And with the easy payments, made available by AMS...owning this guitar is now easy to achieve.

Had to get it to the shop. Needed set up. Definitely not up to Eddie's standards. Now totally awesome since my tech is a EVH guy. Strings, brass block, springs, soaked that dry neck and took down a couple of sharp frets. Read your manual and make sure your tech knows or familiarises himself with the EVH way.

this is my second wolfgang guitar the first one a tobacco burst had a beautiful case and all the candy paid it off every penny now this one comes NO CASE thru the mail hard to believe that is bad business and get this u will never believe if u buy this Eddie Van Halen guitar u will not get a wammy bar on a EVH guitar i wonder if eddie knows that his guitars are being sold for 1100 hundred and no wammy bar UNBELIEVABLE FYI its a little hard to play Van Halen music Wout a Wammy bar im going to try to get in touch w eddie and ask him why i did not get one Thanx Richard in PGH. Pa.

I am giving this guitar 3 stars and will re-review when my exchange arrives.
Overall this guitar is awesome, excellent fit and finish, playability is great.
The reason for the 3 stars is there is about a 4 inch knot in the wood on the back of the neck that you can actually feel ???
This guitar never should have left the factory in my opinion, it's a 1100 hundred dollars ???
Hope the next one is better.

Beautiful guitar, great sound and feel. The issue I have with it is the finishing and attention to detail. It came out of the box set up as good as it could be but the fret job is horrible. It has a dead fret at 16 and no tweaking is taking care of it. The 17th fret is just to high and I'm going to have to get that fixed. the pickup selector was also wired backward, as in, regular (down bridge, up neck) instead of the way Eddie does in and it's owners manual says it should be, which is reversed. There were a few more issues that two days of tweaking could fix but all in all I'm upset with the finish of the guitar. For $999 I excpect something out of the box that's going to need a basic set up, not a new fret job.

This is my 3rd Wolfgang (I have a Peavey Special & a Made-in-China special) and I was lucky enough to buy one of the R/W/B Striped-only 60 released for sale in the US/125 worldwide!!! What I love about this Wolfgang is the arched top and I like the black hardware as well. Quality is top notch and feel/sound of the guitar is spot on. I play many different styles & my Wolfgangs cover it all!!!

The only thing I don't like - and its minor - it only has 22 frets. Otherwise the sound is very versatile, the neck is slick & quick ... a git schlingers dream - its shredalicious!!!
