Finish How did the stain or paint job look? Very nice and smooth. Action How was the action out of the box? It was a tad high with the exception of the high E string. It choked out when bended. The action was not uniform through all the strings. All this was very easy to remedy. Quality Would you consider this product to be made well? How dependable? This is a very well made guitar for 1/2 the price. I can't answer how dependable it will be for I only received it today. But, I see nothing the cause it to be undependable. Reliability How has it stood up over time? Again, can't answer this yet. Overall Your general opinion of this product. This is a very good value. Very well made and no flaws what so ever on the instrument. Playability and Feel How does it feel, Heavy, Fast, Chunky? How was the neck? Are the controls easy to get to while playing? Pretty ligh guitar. Neck was a little loose and had to be tightend. The edge of the frets were a little sharp but these two things were very easy to remedy. The controls are typical for a Strat. Tone Bright and snappy? Dark and smooth? Were the pickups hot, mellow, thick, thin? Nice vintage tone. Really smooth. I especially like the neck and middle pickup. I don't know about the bridge pickup yet, but so far..seems ok. Not extremely hot, but a little more than an American Standard.
Comparing it the Mexican 60's Strat to my American 62 Reissue.

Quality Would you consider this product to be made well? How dependable? This is a very well made guitar for 1/2 the price of an American Model. Looking it over, the quality of the raw wood material is not quite as good as the American model, but is absolutely no issue at all. Reliability How has it stood up over time? I just got it today, so it's not possible to answer this question, but I see nothing to make me think it won't hold up as well as the American Model with the exception of the bridge saddles. They are kind of cheap. They look good, but can tell they are pretty light weight. I will change these. Overall Your general opinion of this product. I'm very happy with this guitar. I would say it's more guitar for the money than the American version. Playability and Feel How does it feel, Heavy, Fast, Chunky? How was the neck? Are the controls easy to get to while playing? It's a light weight guitar. The neck is fast and smooth. The edge of the frets were sharp and had to be smoothed out. The action needed adjusted. The High E string was choking when bending and the rest of the strings were not uniform. The neck needed tightend...these were all minor adjustments. The intonation is right on which I consider to be most important. Tone Bright and snappy? Dark and smooth? Were the pickups hot, mellow, thick, thin? Very nice tone. Very vintage SRV sounding. I wouldn't call the pickups super hot, but a little more than a stock American Standard Stratocaster. I especially like the Neck and Middle pickup. The jury is still out on the Bridge pickup. Finish How did the stain or paint job look? Very nice finish. It has a urethene finish as opposed to a laquer finsh on the American 62 Reissue..again, I don't think this is much of an issue. Urethene definately is more durable. Action How was the action out of the box? A little high...not bad.
