Would you consider this product to be made well? How dependable?
ONLY PROBLEM BEING THE FRET ENDS SHOULD BE FINISHED OFF IN A MORE PROFESSIONAL MANNER . NOT AS SMOOTH AS I WOULD LIKE THEM TOBE.THE POT SHAFTS ALSO HAVE SOME LATERAL PLAY.A JAZZMASTER OPERATIONAL MANUAL WOULD BE NICE TO HAVE.HAD TO GO ON YOU TUBE FOR HELP.NOT A GOOD THING.TREMELLO ARM LOOSE AND VERY SLOPPY WITH TO MUCH PLAY.NEEDS THE ONE LITTLE SPRING THAT ALL GOOD FENDER STRATS COME WITH.
Reliability

I love it, I also own an American Deluxe Telecaster so I was afraid I wouldn't like this one as much and it would end up sitting around looking pretty... I couldn't have been more wrong. This guitar is fantastic.

The build quality is fantastic. Its very solid feeling and all the hardware seems to be of great quality. I have had zero tuning issues with it.

Overall, this is a fantastic guitar from Fender. Made in Mexico vs. Made in USA is becoming a non-factor. This guitar plays and feels as every bit as good as a USA Jazzmaster.
Playability and Feel
How does it feel, Heavy, Fast, Chunky? How was the neck? Are the controls easy to get to while playing?
Good playability. I like the feel of the neck profile and Im a big fan of rosewood fretboards so I guess Im a bit partial. The pickup switches and knobs are fine. The 3 way toggle could be placed in a better location but thats personal preference.
Tone
Bright and snappy? Dark and smooth? Were the pickups hot, mellow, thick, thin?
Fat and clean. I like it. Breaks up well. Not for heavy playing but blues and jazz players will love the sounds that come out of this guitar.
Finish
How did the stain or paint job look?
Mine had two finish flaws when I took it out of the box. When the guitar is packed, the whammy bar for the trem is packed in the front pocket of the gigbag case that the guitar is shipped in. Any sort of weight put on the box during transit is going to cause the bar to press against the body. Mine had one small indent that was a bit bothersome. The fretboard also had a small chip of wood missing on the treble side of the neck around the first fret. Also a bit troublesome but after a few calls to AMS they were able to take care of those concerns.
Action
How was the action out of the box?
The action was a tad high for my liking but this is very much a personal preference. It was playable and almost in tune when it arrived.

Having owned several US made instruments I would say this JM is as well put together as any of them. Neck fits tight in the pocket, fret work was really nice on mine. hardware seems well made. I was at 1st a bit put off by the TOM bridge, but it has been a non issue
Reliability
How has it stood up over time?
I've only had it a month, but it seems to be put together very well. I have to admit, the MIM Fender products have come a long way quality wise.

It is a great guitar. I played the AVRIs and the Jay Mascis JM and I felt the CPoffered the most, especially for the price!
Playability and Feel
How does it feel, Heavy, Fast, Chunky? How was the neck? Are the controls easy to get to while playing?
Feels great, I prefer the 9.5 radius neck and the bigger frets so it works for me. Some like the vintage 7.25 necks and small frets better so that may pose an issue to some.
Tone
Bright and snappy? Dark and smooth? Were the pickups hot, mellow, thick, thin?
Sounds like a JM with hotter pickups, which is what it is, more or less. I primarily use this guitar for shoegazer type stuff, so the hotter pickups help when running multiple effects.
Finish
How did the stain or paint job look?
Finish is as good as anything made in the US. Just wish Fender would offer these guitars in more colors then OK black and boring Sunburst.
Action
How was the action out of the box?
Action was pretty good out of the box. Lowered it a bit but otherwise all good.
