Great bass..BAD set up!
What is your overall opinion of this product?
This is an interesting bass. An Ash body and a 7.25 radius neck! VERY light and great for small hands. It really sings!
What is your opinion of the quality of this product? How does it work for different genres of music?
The basic quality is great. The setup was HORRIBLE! Strings were just slapped on and not even centered on the saddles. Neck was bowed and had to pull off the pickguard to get to the rod screw. Even then access was rough almost needed to remove the neck. Yuck! But it adjusted easy and came alive. The bridge saddles were all over the place as to height & angle.Had to lower the nut slots as well. Now plays like a dream. Shame on Fender for not setting it up. Better know how to do these things or you will be off to the bass tech!
Are the features on the product what you were expecting? What are your favorite features?
All as stated in the description. My BadassII bridge had the slotted saddles! Yea!
Heavy, fast, chunky? How was the neck? Are the controls easy to get to while playing?
Very light and not chunky for my small hands. Much like the feel of my 66 Jazz. 7.25 radius.
How is the tone? Bright and snappy? Dark and smooth? Were the pickups hot, mellow, thick or thin?
Very brite and Big bottom. Very even across the fingerboard. I think a set of Rotosound nickles is called for.
How did the stain or paint job look?
Road worn as stated.
Did you get what you were expecting for the price? How does it compare to similar products in the same price range?
Value wise not so great as the time & effort to get it into a good playable state at the price paid was a negative. If one was not a tech & had to take it to a shop it would add a few bucks to the bottom line. (Some other dealers will do a setup at shipping time!)
How was the action out of the box?
