General What is your overall opinion of this product? This is a great bass. At first I was a little put off that it was made in Mexico instead of Japan but those hesitant feelings went away as soon as I put in my hands and played it. A great bass for anyone who loves Fender Jazz Basses from the 70s. Quality What is your opinion of the quality of this product? How does it work for different genres of music? This is a good quality product; everything from the hardware to the electronics makes the bass great. This is a great bass that works for all styles of music. Without the preamp on gives you a great slap tone for funk and with the preamp gives you a nice bassy boost that will work for all styles of music. Features Are the features on the product what you were expecting? What are your favorite features? The best feature of this bass to me is honestly the quick release battery compartment. Changing batteries is so easy now and that makes a big difference, especially if you have to change them right before you walk on stage. Feel Heavy, fast, chunky? How was the neck? Are the controls easy to get to while playing? The neck is perfect on this bass. I usually steer away from gloss necks but it's not sticky like other heavy gloss necks. The weight is good, not too heavy but not too light; it feels like a real bass and not a toy like some basses I have played in the past. Tone How is the tone? Bright and snappy? Dark and smooth? Were the pickups hot, mellow, thick or thin? This is a true 70s Jazz Bass! The passive tone is amazing and the active boosts the tone and not completely change it. Some basses are built around the electronics and when that bass goes into passive mode the tone is too thin, not with this bass. There is a nice deep bass tone in passive and active mode. Finish How did the stain or paint job look? It's natural, what more could you ask for? The matching neck and body is beautiful and a true nod to the 70s. Value Did you get what you were expecting for the price? How does it compare to similar products in the same price range? The price could be a little lower considering that it is a Mexican made bass and other Mexican made signature basses don't cost the same price as American made basses but it is a quality bass and it is a good investment if you want a good bass that sounds and looks like a 70s Jazz Bass. Playability How was the action out of the box? I just had to do a small adjustment for my personal preference, but the action out of the bass was good before I changed it. I could have opened it up and played it for a gig 5 minutes later and it would have played well.
