General What is your overall opinion of this product? The first one I received had a wood screw protruding through the control cavity which shorted out the pickup selector switch. I chose to deal with fender on this issue and they (after a ton of documentation) decided to replace it. The one they sent back had to be one of the ugliest and least quality instruments I've ever had the misfortune to hold in my hands. Uneven frets, wonky neck, dead spots in the neck, a stuck truss rod , and a case that wouldn't latch properly were among the issues I experienced with the replacement. If this guitar could speak (which you couldn't hear over the fret buzz anyway) it would say. "Kill meeee..." After taking the guitar to a local guitar tech he quoted $175.00 to get the guitar playable. This still doesn't address the issue of the maple veneer which might be the ugliest top I've ever seen. For real. It's awful. I'm dealing with fender as I write this review trying to get them to replace the instrument a second time Quality What is your opinion of the quality of this product? How does it work for different genres of music? I spent over 2k for a guitar that looks like a llama vomited all over it and is virtually unplayable. On a quality scale from one star to five stars where does yak excrement fall? Feel Heavy, fast, chunky? How was the neck? Are the controls easy to get to while playing? The first one I ordered from ams felt great aside from the fact it didn't work. The one fender sent back on warranty feels terrible. Tone How is the tone? Bright and snappy? Dark and smooth? Were the pickups hot, mellow, thick or thin? The select pickups are really nice. Articulate and the hum buckler in the bridge position really has punch. Plugged into my ac15 they're gorgeous. Finish How did the stain or paint job look? Ams sent me the one I wanted and it was absolutely beautiful. The one fender sent back on warranty is gross. Value Did you get what you were expecting for the price? How does it compare to similar products in the same price range? Nope. These guitars are billed as highest production quality. I've seen american stds that play a lot better and whose fit and finish are nicer. Playability How was the action out of the box? I literally put it back in the case (which didn't latch properly) because it played so poorly.
Much more than I had hoped.

General What is your overall opinion of this product? Very satisfied. In the top five guitars that I have ever played. Quality What is your opinion of the quality of this product? How does it work for different genres of music? Very high quality. I'm very happy with this guitar. Works well for my style of music. Blues, country and a bit of hard rock and metal. Feel Heavy, fast, chunky? How was the neck? Are the controls easy to get to while playing? Lightweight. Very streamlined body. The neck, which is hand rubbed oil finish, is very smooth. Very fast neck. The controls are same as other fenders. Works for me just fine. Tone How is the tone? Bright and snappy? Dark and smooth? Were the pickups hot, mellow, thick or thin? Nice tone. The humbucker pickup is a cool feature, excellent for strumming and finger picking. All the pickups work well for blues and rock. They are smooth. Nice sustain also. Finish How did the stain or paint job look? The stain was perfect. High gloss. The wood grain stands out nicely. The top coat is thin so is wearing where my arm sits. Which I like since I prefer the road worn guitar look. Just my opinion but it seems to be wearing nicely. Value Did you get what you were expecting for the price? How does it compare to similar products in the same price range? Yep. Got what I wanted. It really does play and feel great. Playability How was the action out of the box? It had to acclimate to my house for about three days after which it played very well. I was surprised at how well it played. I was expecting to have to take it to a guitar tech but, alas, it plays great just as it is. I did adjust the action to my preference but I wasn't unhappy with it as it was.
Beautiful guitar

General Your general opinion of this product. I gave up a vintage '63 Jazzmaster for this guitar. I have always played vintage guitars. I couldn't be happier with this Strat. I will never sell it. It is bound to be a classic someday. Once you get this guitar in your hands, you won't be able to put it down. I tried out a lot of guitars the day I bought this one. I knew immediately that this was the one that I had to have. Quality Would you consider this product to be made well? How dependable? Excellent quality. Easily as nice as much more expensive Strats from the Custom Shop. They used high end woods and components. Tone Bright and snappy? Dark and smooth? Were the pickups hot, mellow, thick, thin? With the HSS configuration, you get a good variety of tones while also getting the classic Strat sound. The humbucker really screams with power. Finish How did the stain or paint job look? The finish has a lot of depth. Absolutely stunning.

General Your general opinion of this product. Excellent guitar. Looks amazing. Has the classic Strat sound, but to the next level. The inlaid fretboard is just one-of-a-kind. This is a top-quality Strat that will be a treasure for years to come. Quality Would you consider this product to be made well? How dependable? Outstanding. The finish is superb, the workmanship is all that you would expect and then some. The pickups are tasty. Tone Bright and snappy? Dark and smooth? Were the pickups hot, mellow, thick, thin? A mixture of tones, as one would expect. The bridge pickup offers a nice bright bite, while the neck pickup gives a warm, mellow, start sound. Those in-between pickups offer a variety of tones. Finish How did the stain or paint job look? What a beaut! Flawless finish, beautiful woods, love the inlaid neck.
