Quality
Would you consider this product to be made well? How dependable?
It's made in Fender's Corona CA shop so I expect good quality, and you feel it. My wife gave me "the look" which means she knew I bought a high-ticket item. Tuners, string-through body, the finish, the strings, the gorgeous neck and inlays. All together - top notch quality. The frets were nicely dressed, too.
Features
What do you consider to be the best features of this product? What features would you add to this product if you could?
Obviously, the active features on this bass are great. It's good that you're able to scoop the mids for heavy rock. I like the active/passive switch. You plug your cord in on the side of the body (not the front of the bass), which I always prefer. It comes with a hefty case and a full complement of case candy. I think I even had a dream about that last night. On another note, the new black leather Fender strap is much more unique and cool than the standard cloth black & gold one.
Tone
Bright and snappy? Dark and smooth? Were the pickups hot, mellow, thick, thin?
The active is fairly hot. I'd say this bass trends toward bright and snappy. That said, it has a very thick sound. You can dial down the tone but I would say this bass will stand out in most mixes rather than blend.
Finish
How did the stain or paint job look?
Insane. The finish on these basses is gorgeous. I got the midnight wine transparent, and it's very unique without being overly boutiquey.

Perfect fit and finish. You won't do better than this unless maybe you go with a $2k+ Custom Shop model. Fender dependability is legendary.
Features
What do you consider to be the best features of this product? What features would you add to this product if you could?
The finish, the classic Jazz Bass feel and sound plus active/passive mode toggle switch. Wouldn't change a thing.
Tone
Bright and snappy? Dark and smooth? Were the pickups hot, mellow, thick, thin?
Deep dub tones to bright slap or picked tones, not to mention plenty of Jazz Bass growl. The pups and active EQ give this a huge range. The midrange boost/cut is extra cool.
Finish
How did the stain or paint job look?
The Natural finish is stunning. The maple fingerboard with black inlays and black neck binding add a really cool vintage vibe.
