General What is your overall opinion of this product? This bass is a pleasure to play, and I am accustomed to playing a short scale bass only. Sweet pups (pickups) with lovely setup in the string department. All I had to do was completely re-tune it to standard EADG. (This was a scratch and dent demo item that I gave a home.) Now, I have a very small hand and short stubby fingers without normal use of my left fretting hand/fingers, and this bass is still a pleasure to play in my limited capacity. Quality What is your opinion of the quality of this product? How does it work for different genres of music? I am not in a position to answer this in any extent. I play with one other, a singer/guitarist, and we cover tunes written and/or recorded by The Beatles, Dolly Parton, Roy Orbison, Joan Baez, The Statler Brothers, Johnny Cash and June Carter (Cash) and the list goes on through 60's radio hits into gospel and beyond. I am flat out in love with my Fender Modern Player Jazz Bass. Features Are the features on the product what you were expecting? What are your favorite features? As for the features, it's simply a passive, two-pickup bass with a volume control knob for each pup, i.e. the middle pup and the bridge pup. The third knob is for tone. Easy breezy. Feel Heavy, fast, chunky? How was the neck? Are the controls easy to get to while playing? Fast neck, rather slim, not chunky. Stays where it should when you stand up to play. Bass itself is heavy. If it will be your first bass, you will soon become spoiled by learning on it. I own and play a Squire, Epiphone SG faded, Yamaha, Ibanez, Epiphone Toby and Epiphone Viola and I'll be making this Fender Modern Player Jazz Bass an available choice for all my future sets. Tone How is the tone? Bright and snappy? Dark and smooth? Were the pickups hot, mellow, thick or thin? I have yet to explore the range of tonal qualities and capabilities, but the response is immediate and clear with each strike. (I play both finger style and with a pick, depending upon the tune at hand.) Finish How did the stain or paint job look? Beautiful. I bought the three-tone sunburst. I've wanted a three-tone sunburst something since I first saw my neighbor's vintage Fender Stratocaster. Lovely. As stated previously, I bought a scratch 'n' dent item, but I don't mind the rather large crunch-spot near the end pin. The looks don't make the music better or worse. Value Did you get what you were expecting for the price? How does it compare to similar products in the same price range? I'm happy, and I'm a real scrooge. Playability How was the action out of the box? Didn't change a thing. Perfect for my satisfaction. As stated above, I only had to re-tune to EADG and then rock and roll!

General What is your overall opinion of this product? I wanted to get a great bass, and Fender was the only choice. When it comes to my 6 strings, I go for the most expensive, but I was looking for a great bass that could be had for about $500, and I found it! I got the white one. Quality What is your opinion of the quality of this product? How does it work for different genres of music? It's a well made Fender. I would expect no less. Features Are the features on the product what you were expecting? What are your favorite features? Yes, it's exactly what I thought it would be. No special features, just a solid bass sound. Feel Heavy, fast, chunky? How was the neck? Are the controls easy to get to while playing? The neck is pretty thin, which was a nice surprise. It's a solid/heavy bass, but not actually heavy. Tone How is the tone? Bright and snappy? Dark and smooth? Were the pickups hot, mellow, thick or thin? The tone is that rich bottom end that made Fender basses the choice of more bass players than any other brand by far. Finish How did the stain or paint job look? I got Olympic White, and it's a professional looking paint job. Value Did you get what you were expecting for the price? How does it compare to similar products in the same price range? I got what I was expecting, and I was expecting a lot. Playability How was the action out of the box? It's very easy to play.

General What is your overall opinion of this product? I loved it so much that even though it was defective I couldn't bare to send it back. Everything was perfect with this bass except the neck pickup sounded REALLY thin. I figured I could check and see if the pickup was wired out of phase, but it wasn't. Took it to the shop and it turned out that the pickup coils were reversed - a factory defect - they flipped the coils around and it sounds great! Cost me $50 but it's still worth it. I've played American Jbasses I didn't like as much. Tone How is the tone? Bright and snappy? Dark and smooth? Were the pickups hot, mellow, thick or thin? It sounds great now that it's been repaired. Finish How did the stain or paint job look? Beautiful finish. The transparent black is beautiful. I put in a black (no white stripe) pickguard and a black anodized control plate. Looks awesome! Value Did you get what you were expecting for the price? How does it compare to similar products in the same price range? For the price this bass can't be beat. Playability How was the action out of the box? Action was perfect. It was almost in tune. Factory tuned!

Quality Would you consider this product to be made well? How dependable? I purchased this bass last month and used it every week for practice and have gigged it two times ,I'm very impressed with the fit and finish of this bass, it is flawless and is on par with my American deluxe P-bass. Features What do you consider to be the best features of this product? What features would you add to this product if you could? The pups have a nice fat tone and yet they don't get muddy when you roll off the EQ, simple to adjust the tone on the fly. General Your general opinion of this product. I have decided to make this bass my #1 bass for gigging, I don't have to worry about the battery running down on long gigs and the sound is on par with my style of playing, fat and growly yet bright enough to penetrate the bands sound level. Tone Bright and snappy? Dark and smooth? Were the pickups hot, mellow, thick, thin? The pups have a nice thick sound, yet bright enough as not to get muddy Finish How did the stain or paint job look? As good as American made, better than MIM .
