It’s a Squier?

All I can say is wow. I thought it would be great to have an inexpensive bass to augment my guitar playing and recording. I really didn’t expect a lot from it, but I’ve been pleasantly surprised. It’s got that Jazz Bass tone you’re familiar with. It arrived quickly and well-packaged. It’s heavy, like a 70’s Jazz Bass should be.
The hardware is well-made. It stays in tune. I swear it’s a two-piece body, and the wood grain is beautiful.
A little adjustment of the action was all it needed, and it’s awesome. I mean, Fender’s quality in the 70’s wasn’t the greatest, and this one is probably just as good or better. Buy it, play the crap out of it. It’s a good one.

I bought this bass with the intent of upgrading it. After hearing it I figured there is no need-it sounds and plays great as is.The only thing I did was adjust the bridge and control knobs(they were a little rough at first). And right put of the box she was good to go. I had a Fender(Mex.)P-bass years ago and this Jazz is head and shoulders above in style, sound and believe it or not quality.

I was looking for an inexpensive bass guitar that I could modify, new pickups, tuners and such. I plugged it in and started playing. It sounds great as is. I may not change the pickups or the tuners. It felt good and played as good as my MIM Fender P bass.

Excellent!!! Even the action and intonation are perfect out of the box. Solid construction, bassy, punchy and bright sounds with the tone control. I really like the maple neck sound and feel. Great for my rock blues and U2 Tribute Band playing.

Bought this bass last week. Out the box only had to tune strings. Really plays itself. feels really good. My hands are small Fender jazz modified fit my hands like a glove. I see a lot of professionals playing this bass. Its a steal for the price. Trust me you will not be disappointed no matter what level your at. This is a great bass made in Indonesia. Just trust me it funks, rocks slides, glides. Anything you want from it. The candy apple red is really beautiful. I will never sell this bass.

Is this going to be a Fender Custom Shop bass? Nope.. Can you make it damn near one? Yeppers!! I have two, a 4 and a 5 string. Replaced the Pickups, pots, jacks and bridges. I am no luthier and was able to do this myself. Sure it will cost you a few bucks to do it. Shop around and do it bit by bit. My two basses are gigged with and have been recorded with. Trust me, if the engineer thought these basses and mods sucked.. He would have zero problem telling me. On the 4 I did replace the tuners but only because I wanted an extender key, so I figured I would do them all. I could have have bought a Fender Jazz, but I would probably replace everything on that too!! Besides.. The colors on Fender Jazzes suck and forget about a block inlay...

The overall quality of this instrument is amazing for the price. Great neck joint, amazing finish and good fretwork. The pickups are passable but I will upgrade to play live. 2 volumes and a generic tone control work for me since I don't use onboard eq on any of my basses. The bridge is a bit thin and I will replace with something that has more mass.
Absolutely a great beginner bass and with a few upgrades this will be awesome for a working musician at a fraction of a US made Fender.

The Squier Vintage Modified basses can really hold their own! This is a beautiful bass to behold, sounds killer, and is a great buy if you can't afford a Fender bass. I had a great purchasing experience with American Musical. My order came fast and intact.

Action well set when it arrived, etc., all I had to do was tune it and plug it in. Even my long-suffering wife commented that this one sounds better than the others. The tone is fantastic, and I'm just starting to explore all the tone & volume settings.

This bass is really solid and plays amazingly. In my opinion there is not a more versatile bass in the world than a J-Bass, and this one is no different. I purchased this to be my backup, but it quickly became my go to for every show. I recommend this bass to any level player.

I bought this bass just for something decent to record with. turns out, it plays feels, and sounds like something you'd expect to pay 4x's as much for.
I cannot stress enough how great the natural finish is on the body. it's just beautiful!! that goes for the neck as well. the pictures do no justice.
it is all around much better than I expected. I had read many good reviews prior to purchase, but was still quite skeptical. until I got it out of the box. When considering purchasing in this price range, quite literally nothing can compare to this bass.
playability is very impressive right out of the box. The only thing I would want to change about this bass, would be to switch out the stock strings for some nice tapewounds. But that's just a personal preference.

This is a beautiful Bass Guitar. It plays nicely and is almost every thing I hoped it would be. The only thing that I wish that it had is a similar style plug for the cord. I know I can get a 90 degree plug for it. I just worry that the straight out cord might damage the instrument if it were accidently bumped.
I have a Fender Strat and this Squire really surprised me in the quality of design and beautiful color. If I had to compare the two it would be pretty hard to say one is better than the other. However, that will not be a problem since they are two different instruments.
Great Pickups. I can go with pretty much any style and sound I like.
Easy to control. Of course the neck is much longer so my fingers will get much faster moving up and down the frets.
Again tone is good. I play with fingertips, thumb, and picks. All sound different and I can really tweak in a sound that I like.
All paint and finishes were superb. And that really surprised me considering the condition of the outer shell of the shipping box. Not a scratch on it.
The only thing I would have liked it for Fender to be on the neck. I doubt most people would be able to tell the difference.
Unlike my Fender Stratocaster which I had to set intonation and tweak the neck or do a setup to get it going good. I haven't done anything to the Bass except tune it and play it. Its been over 30 years since I played a Bass Guitar and it played just like an old friend coming home. About as good as it gets.
