Compared to teh mim Strats I've owned the American is far, far superior. Everything from sound to feel, you will be glad you put out the extra cash.
Reliability
How has it stood up over time?
I've only had it about 6 weeks so that's yet to be seen.
General
Your general opinion of this product.
Wish I had purchased this years ago. It's even better than I imagined. I had 2 mim strats in the 90's and the American Strat is by far the one I needed.
Playability and Feel
How does it feel, Heavy, Fast, Chunky? How was the neck? Are the controls easy to get to while playing?
feels awesome (seriously hate to put it down), not heavy at all, neck took a bit of getting used to (a bit different from the les paul). The only thing I've noticed that will take a bit of getting used to is the volume control knob is to close to the pickup for my taste....but taking knob off helps, and the tremolo bridge doesn't go all the way down..
Tone
Bright and snappy? Dark and smooth? Were the pickups hot, mellow, thick, thin?
Pickups are great...sounds great just ran straight into amp. Everything from SRV to Billy Squire.

Quality
Would you consider this product to be made well? How dependable?
The quality seems good but more play in the neck pocket than I like
Reliability
How has it stood up over time?
I've only had it a week.....5 gigs. but my other strats hold up very well.
General
Your general opinion of this product.
I got a scratch and dent at a great price from AMS. Set up needed a lot of work but I like it low. Once I lowered the nut and raised the neck angle it played very well. The sound of the neck pick up on a blues gig was perfect. I had to mod the bridge pick up to balance the sound (very thin). I had ceramic magnets and steel pole pieces from Mex.Strat so I switched them out. The bridge PU reads 2k higher on a meter so It had plenty of wire on it. The new set up is very fat in all settings.
Playability and Feel
How does it feel, Heavy, Fast, Chunky? How was the neck? Are the controls easy to get to while playing?
Neck seems a little fat down low and thin up high
Tone
Bright and snappy? Dark and smooth? Were the pickups hot, mellow, thick, thin?
Best neck and middle I've heard in a while but bridge PU thin

Would you consider this product to be made well? How dependable?
Fender USA quality.....Well worth every penny paid, as with all Fender products!!!!!
Reliability
How has it stood up over time?
Only had the Strat for a day....With a little TLC, it should last for years!!!!! Comes with a heavy duty case.....If I start playing on the road again, (like the Willie Nelson tune), I expect no problems.....
General
Your general opinion of this product.
WHAT A GREAT STRAT!!!!! Purchased a three tone sunburst Mexican Deluxe Players Strat last week.....Received an email from AMS regarding the 12 Payment Plan.....The Blizzard Pearl Strat I was looking at qualified for the payment plan.....I thought, WHY NOT????? Now I have the BEST of both Fender Worlds....USA & Mexican Strats!!!!!
Playability and Feel
How does it feel, Heavy, Fast, Chunky? How was the neck? Are the controls easy to get to while playing?
Strat is quite comfortable to play.....Of course, it's lighter than my Les Pauls.....Neck is fast.....Controls are in the usual Strat position.....Easy to access.....
Tone
Bright and snappy? Dark and smooth? Were the pickups hot, mellow, thick, thin?
American Standard Strat has the usual "bite".....Pickups have that well known "Strat Sound".....JUST GET IT!!!!! You'll be glad you did, & will have years of enjoyment!!!!!
Finish
How did the stain or paint job look?
Beautiful blizzard pearl finish!!!!! Not a single flaw!!!!! Really offsets other guitars in my music room which are red, natural, gold & sunburst well!!!!! Neck has a high gloss finish. Reminds me of the '72 Strat a friend of mine owns.....
Action
How was the action out of the box?
GREAT ACTION OUT OF THE BOX!!!!! Will still take it to my guitar tech to see if it needs "tweaked", just to make sure.....Action is quite acceptable for my tastes.....

This guitar will sound great playing whatever you command of it.
Playability and Feel
How does it feel, Heavy, Fast, Chunky? How was the neck? Are the controls easy to get to while playing?
The strat is not a real heavy guitar so you won't need to go into traction after a gig. Neck is super fast and just melts in your hand. Absolutely fun to play. Controls are right where you need them for easy access.
Tone
Bright and snappy? Dark and smooth? Were the pickups hot, mellow, thick, thin?
Well, the Strat is bright and snappy. It's also dark and smooth. You have to play one of these to really get an understanding of all the tonal possibilities it has to offer. Pickups sound great. True, a strat sounds a little thin but that's what you get with a single coil. Nothing a little eq can't thicken up. Can't go wrong with this guitar.
Finish
How did the stain or paint job look?
Got the blizzard pearl w/maple neck. Very glossy on the neck to headstock. Paint was beautiful. Super fun to play. Seriously have a hard time putting it down. Seriously!
Action

Just beautiful from the factory. If it's not low enough for you from the factory, very easy to lower saddles and tweak the truss rod. These things play like butter.

A guitar is only going to last as long as you take care of it. These Strat's are built to take day to day use for many years, very well built.
General
Your general opinion of this product.
I have waited for the Charcol Frost Option for a while. I have a Blizzard Pearl American Stratocaster which I love. This one is a back up plus I just so happy with my Fender American Stratocasters. I also have an ES335 and LP Standard in my colections but these fenders are the always the guitar I use most of the time.
Playability and Feel
How does it feel, Heavy, Fast, Chunky? How was the neck? Are the controls easy to get to while playing?
The neck is great. I like what Fender did by rolling the edge on the neck with the gloss on the fret side, great action.
Tone
Bright and snappy? Dark and smooth? Were the pickups hot, mellow, thick, thin?
I like the single coil tone for most uses. I play blues, these were made for all types on music styles

Plays silky and "deep", if that makes sense. The neck is worth the extra six hundred in my opinion.
Tone

Creamy "Strat" sound...Surf tunes one minute and Jimi the next.

Like I said in the "Reliability" section - rock solid. The factory guys are churning out rock solid axes.
Reliability
How has it stood up over time?
I don't know what you would have to do to damage this thing beyond playability - drop from a 40 story building ... nah, would probably still play and you'd have a relic series. If you take care of it you will have a h*ll of a nice looking guitar in 20 years - if you abuse it you have an awesome sounding relic - it's a win/win.
General
Your general opinion of this product.
If you are a strat lover this is the holy grail - forget the "deluxe' and "special" - get the American Standard and play until you fingers bleed.
Playability and Feel
How does it feel, Heavy, Fast, Chunky? How was the neck? Are the controls easy to get to while playing?
It's a standard strat - the neck is slim and fast. The frets are medium, and fast. The controls are where they should be - very easy to get to. No issues with any of the above.
Tone
Bright and snappy? Dark and smooth? Were the pickups hot, mellow, thick, thin?

Out of the box? I have no idea. The AMS guys set it up before shipping it out. They did a fine job. I only required a few tweaks to get it perfect.
